This is a very solid T-Bird with a powerful surprise for a motor. It came originally with a 390 FE 4V engine but when starting the rebuild I discovered someone had put in a 406 cubic inch FE motor. It took a lot of digging but I finally confirmed the engine was in-fact a late production 406(normally in 62 and 63 Galaxies). The engine has the cross bolt bosses"showing it was the latter production Heavier Block. The codes are as follows. Engine block :#C3AE6015D........Heads#C2SE6090C.....Crank#C3AEC.....Intake#C2AE8425C. All the internal components of the engine are stock and all are standard size. Evidentally was not driven much after being put in car. If you are a Galaxie fan looking for a stock 406 engine in excellent condition, THIS IS YOUR ENGINE.! I started to restore the whole car so I began by pulling the engine. I was pleased to discover a clean engine with no measureable wear.(all miced out standard) so I replaced all bearings, rings timing chain, oil pump etc. reassembled the engine and put it back in the car. It started and ran fine so I took it for a spin. I soon found out that the transmission was an FMX and did not have a parking gear(probably a parking pawl busted) but worked well and shifted ok. I spent a lot of time describing the motor cause I know how hard it is to find a 406 especially in all standard sizes. The rest of the caris all there and in very good condition with the exception of the upholstery and the windsheild. I will post all the pictures I have and I will be glad to answer any and all questions. This car is still a project.....It will start and run but leaks brake fluid and power steering fluid. I have just ran out of funds to complete. Car and engine are sold as is where is. Accept PayPal cash or cleared cashiers check.
