Up for bid is a 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan. This car is a real diamond in the rough. Pretty much original, this old girl is ready to be restored, customized, rodded, whatever you want. I am the third owner, the second owner had her since the early 70's. I had to help get her running just to bring her home. Original 337 flathead, three speed with overdrive, this old girl purrs like a kitten, and will EASILY cruise down the interstate at 80 MPH. Overdrive solenoid works just fine. She has just over 64000 miles, and drives great. Very modern car for the time. The hydroelectric system needs some work, but nothing major. I've isolated the issue to a pressure relief valve in the pump, easily repaired. The motor for the pump works great. Each of the cylinders has been replaced, including the cylinder for the seat. All door panels are present, though not installed. I was going to use them as templates to get new panels made. Body is in really good shape, with minimal rust, and the only rust throughs being at the bottoms of fenders. The floors are excellent, with factory undercoating, and no noticed rust holes. I've had a plastic gas tank installed, as the original was in such poor shape, I couldn't drive her anywhere without sucking up bits of gas tank liner. I installed an electric fuel pump ove rthe summer, as I drive her quite frequently from Spring through late fall. NEVER driven in salt in the winter. Great old car that I wouldn't have a problem driving about anywhere. Tires are maybe 2 years old, reproduction wide white bias ply tires, that are in great shape. Come and drive her home.
