1956 CHEVROLET PICK-UP. SOLID MONTANA STEEL WITH A CLEAR MONTANA TITLE. This truck is a GREAT starting point for any type of project - it would make a great restoration or a real cool hotrod!! THE MECHANICS: The truck runs and drives with a 6cyl engine and a 4speed manual transmission. Currently the gas tank is unhooked and an auxillary tank is used under the hood for short trips. It runs and idles smoothly. The clutch is in working condition, although one may want to either adjust it or replace it in the near future. Breaks are solid and recently bled although I know nothing of the condition of the shoes or insides of the drums. THE BODY/SHEETMETAL: This truck is complete!! I cannot think of anything it is missing except one turn signal lens in the front, the original hubcaps and a period-correct radio. The interior/dash is complete. I removed the original, weathered floor mat so prospective buyers could assess the condition of the floor. The floor is very solid with minor surface rust and only a small area of rust through on the driver's side of the floor requiring only minor repair. There is a small amount of rust showing through on the very bottom of each door, on one cab corner, and on each fender in the typical spot...these trucks were notorious in these areas. Patch panels are available through multiple vendors if a buyer wanted to go that route, but damage is minor enough in each area that it could likely be repaired with a less extensive approach. The box is in great shape, but in need of rewooding. As for the rest of the body, this is a very solid and complete truck with only minor dents and dings. The original black paint is visible through the poor attempt at painting this truck yellow. A light hit with the sander knocks the flaking yellow off, so new paint is a must. WHEELS/TIRES: The original 16inch wheels are on the truck (including spare) with biasply tires. The tires hold air for loading/unloading from a trailer and for a short trip across town, but have little to no tread life left and are weathered.
