1968 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION, SO SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE! Please allow time for the pictures below to load, since there are over 50 high quality photos. I am not a professional photographer and I do not retouch or "photoshop" any photos. What you see is what you get! I am selling my 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible roadster. This is an original California black plate car that has undergone a one-time only extensive frame-on restoration (frame-off not needed) and has been garaged and driven only 11,000 miles since. This car was originally equipped (and still is) with power steering, power brakes, close ratio M-21 4-speed manual transmission, LeMans Blue exterior and medium blue interior, and positraction rear axle. I have the clean title in hand. This is an investment that you could drive and enjoy! Paint and chrome: The show-quality finish you see in the pics below is the result of a professional paint job that cost over $12,000. Before the restoration, everything was removed from the body of the car and all the paint was stripped down to the bare fiberglass. The enitre body was then resin coated and painstakingly block sanded by hand until laser straight before being primed and painted in its ORIGINAL color, LeMans Blue. The car recieved serveral coats of top quality primer, paint, and clear, and the entire car was sanded with a fine grade paper between each coat. The result is glossy and magnificient – a laser straight mirror finish with absolutely no orange peel, egg shell, or fish-eye anywhere to be found. It is truly show quality that will last nearly a lifetime. The gaps between the panels are all even throughout. The bumpers have also been rechromed and are flawless, with no spots, pits, or scratches. Interior and soft top: The seats were redone in the factory correct medium blue color vinyl, and in the correct fit and finish that this car was intended to have. The soft top is also brand new, expertly redone in the original white. There are no rusty screws or hinges to be found inside this Vette. All the rubber has been replaced and is soft and supple. The steering wheel was replaced with a modern-feel leather wrapped wheel that allows more leg room while driving (which is a problem with the original steering wheels). Mechanics: During the restoration, the original 327/350 motor was removed and replaced with a higher horsepower 350 cid Corvette crate motor from Chevrolet. The motor is not only more powerful, but also more reliable and more efficient than the original. The original close-ratio manual transmission was also rebuilt, the carbeurator rebuilt, the radiator re-cored, all hoses replaced, rebuilt power steering and brake boosters, all electrical wires replaced, suspension and brakes replaced with new, all new bushings, and a new factory correct exhaust system was also installed. With only 11,000 miles clocked since this mechanical overhaul, this Vette is so reliable that you could literally drive it across the country and back with no problem, or even use it as a daily driver (though I would hate to see it used in this fashion). Due to excellent heat management components, the engine stays nice and cool in even the hottest of days. Unlike most of these Corvettes, the cabin does not get hot from the heat of the engine. The motor starts on the first crank every time and never poses any problems, just pure enjoyment. There are absolutely no leaks to be found under this car, as all the seals have been replaced and maintained well. Drive Quality: With new shocks, this car rides as smooth as it did when it was new. The C3 Corvettes are notorious for being rattle boxes while driving over bumps, but this one is relatively quiet. The power steering is nice and smooth and so are the power brakes. The alignment is nice and straight. The engine has that throaty muscle car exhaust note while cruising and that thunderous roar during acceleration, while having little vibration during idle. Vacuum system: The vacuum systems on these cars are very complicated and expensive to repair and require expert knowledge to do so. All the vacuum components on this car were rebuilt to work flawlessly, including the headlights and windshield wipers. Security: For peace of mind during those weekend cruises, this car is equipped with a $1000 (parts + labor) top-of-the-line Viper 5901 2-way alarm with an immobilizer system. The system will notify you on the key FOB whenever the car is tampered with within a 1-mile radius, and will even tell you exactly what sensor was triggered. When the system is activated, the ignition is disabled and the car cannot be started. This system is completely seamless and cannot be seen, keeping the car looking entirely stock. Other: Being an original Southern California car, there is absolutely no rust anywhere underneath (not even surface rust!). There are many NOS factory parts on this car, including the side mirror, rear-view mirror, tail light lenses, and blinkers. The car also features its rare original "Astro Ventilation" labeled glass. Most of the fiber optic indicators on this car are working, with the exception of only a couple. All the gauges and clock are original Corvette "green" gauges and work flawlessly. The car includes 2 sets of keys, 2 alarm FOBs, and the original owner's manual. Please check my feedback for testimonials, as I have sold other classic cars on eBay before. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! Please contact Matt with any questions: (818) 648-6559, Pacific Standard Time. Shipping For those who wish to have the car sent by freight, I will be happy to assist the shipping company with scheduling, etc. Payment I accept cashier's check, money order, or cash in person. The winning bidder must contact me within 48 hours of auction's close. I require a $500 deposit within 2 days of auction's close, and full payment within 7 days. Note that the headlights are not visible when they are down because the proper cover is in place. You will not find this attention to detail on many other Corvettes! New chrome, in show condition. California black plates New old stock tail light lenses - crystal clear All latches and hinges operate smoothly as they should. Brand new convertible top - bright white with crystal clear plastic New rubber New old stock side mirror with correct date code New old stock "nite/day" mirror with correct date code Original "Astro Ventilation" glass Wiper cover, wipers, and headlights work flawlessly This car has not been undercoated! This is what you expect from an original California car.
