Vehicle Detail

Up for Auction is a very nice, very rare, very original, low mileage, and one family owned Regatta Blue 1986 Mustang GT convertible. This California car has 79,000 original miles and ALL documentation from the day it was sold INCLUDING the original window sticker and New Car Delivery checklist! This Mustang sold new on December 5, 1986 by Pearson Ford in San Diego, California and has spent its entire life in sunny California! The Mustang had an invoice of $17,223.00 and is nicely equipped with an AM/FM cassette, A/C, cruise, and light convenience group! Purchased new by an American Airlines pilot the Mustang remained in San Diego for 17 years and 76,670 miles. In 2003 the car was passed on to the original owner’s adult son who lived in San Francisco, California. One year and 1300 miles later the car was passed on to a cousin, also living in San Francisco. I purchased the car from the cousin in December of 2011 with 79,561! This Mustang was only driven 3,000 miles in 7 years AND was garaged the entire time! Mechanically the car is near perfect! I was so confident in the cars mechanics that I took a train from Bakersfield, California to San Francisco, purchased the car and drove it 300 miles back to Bakersfield. The car ran perfectly and everything, including the air and cruise, worked! In May of 2011 the previous owner spent $2,800 on the car which included new Michelin radial tires, engine service, new battery, new hoses and belts, new thermostat, coolant flush, transmission service, valve cover gaskets and upper plenum gasket. Yet another example of the meticulous care this car has had! The speedometer does want to bounce slightly which in turn causes the cruise to “search” every so often for the set speed. I believe this is related to the lack of use and the speedometer and cruise will settle in once a few miles are put on the car. The body is absolutely rust free and very nice! A driver quality repaint was done on the car in December of 1997 (pictures of the car prior to the repaint are included). The paint remains in nice condition. The original decals were replaced and the new decals remain in excellent condition. There are a couple of very minor dings that are expected for a 26 year old car. The worst is an ever so slight crease below the body molding behind the passenger’s side rear wheel and one door ding in the middle of the driver’s door. In my opinion Regatta Blue was the most stunning color available for the Mustang GT. Today the color is not seen very often and rarely found in this condition! The Mustangs white interior is nice. The front seats are near perfect and very soft and pliable. The rear seat has become brittle and if used would need to be recovered soon – The seat is presentable but does have some imperfections (as a result of age and sun but not use) and if used would require replacement soon. The carpet and door panels are nice and the dash is near perfect with no cracking. The top was replaced in November of 1997 with a Robbins top – Total cost was close to $1,000.00! The top still retains the original glass back window and is in PERFECT condition! The top operates up and down freely – no issues at all. The convertible top boot is like new and appears to have had very little use. I am not sure what else to say about this rare find! With the Fox body and 5.0 craze it is almost impossible to find a car in decent condition that has not been altered. To find a low mileage, one family owned Regatta Blue convertible with major documentation (including a car fax) is near impossible! Do not miss this opportunity! There are very few like this one remaining let alone available!! Please feel free to contact Dean at 661-703-8402 with any questions concerning this 1986 Mustang Gt. Thanks and Happy Bidding!!!
