Vehicle Detail

First, please read the short article out of Pontiac's High Performance magazine at the bottom of the pictures. 1988 was THE best year for the Fiero, with improvements in the front suspension, rear suspension, sway bars, struts, steering ratio, engine improvements, etc, etc.....go ahead; I'll wait.................. This 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT is a rare true survior. Prior to us buying it a couple years ago, it was a one owner car! We have the orginal owner's contact info and every record of maintenance since the car was new (about 5" thick!) It has always been garage kept even during the summer, so the sun never got to it, (except while being driven.) It wears the original paint, which shines beautifully! It has never seen a winter, as you can tell by the near perfect underside shots. Minus the windshield wipers, the car is totally stock, and has never been "modified" (or in other terms, messed with.) Since we've owned it, the car needed a new alternator and tires (which we did.) Service-wise, we regularly changed the oil, filters, had the coolant system serviced (full flush, new thermostat,) new Goodyear Eagle GT tires just last summer (about 2k miles on them,) new brake rotors and pads (same 2k miles,) we rebuilt the headlight motor gearboxes with the metal bushings (which will last forever, a common problem with these cars) and had the a/c serviced. The car is extremely sound. It does not rattle, handles phenomenally, starts, runs, and accelerates perfectly. The only things it needs are cosmetic: the stock seats need reupholstering, (although the rugs, door panels, dash, console, are all perfect,) the 3" headliner is seperated from the backing, but being only 3" wide around the huge sunroof, it might hang down 1/2", so it's hardly noticable. Every light works (both on the exterior and the interior, including the dash lights. Every gauge works perfectly and as they should. The stock GM premium sound system with built in EQ and 5 speakers works perfectly (including the stock sub-woofer.) We also replaced all the (disinegrated) stock speakers with new rubber surround Sony speakers of the correct size, and kept them in the stock locations and with the correct stock speaker covers. The transmission was rebuilt by Pontiac shortly prior to us buying it, so that is perfect and shifts perfectly as well (same with a new rack and pinion steering unit; have all receipts.) The car does not leak anything at all, and the entire underside of the car is always dry. We have ALL the receipts since new, as well as the stock Pontiac service manual. Despite the high mileage, the rings and valve stem seals are all good, as the car doesn't burn or lose any oil and the plugs are always nice light tan. We put new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, and ignition module in the car just 3k miles ago. All the glass is perfect (except one small plastic widow behind the drivers door has a crack in it.) The sunroof works perfectly, and can be removed all together and stored in the front hood compartment. All electrical components work exactly as they should (power windows, power locks, cruise control, turn signals, headlights, brights, horn, etc.) we did send the stock head unit (stereo) out for a full "going thru" as the potentiometers were dirty and needed replacing. So we had the stock stereo totally refurbished too (which plays perfectly!) The car does not shake or pulsate, and tracks straight even at high speeds on the thruway. It is a FUN, FUN car to drive! It takes me back to my younger and carefree days in the 80's! I love the car, but I don't drive it much and it sits in my garage. And I could use the garage space! I have a clean and clear NYS title (in my name) and carfax report in hand. The previous owner info, all receipts, manuals, original owners manuals, and even the original window sticker go along with the car. Unless you're willing to spend $10k on a low mile survivor, you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer, more original, fully documented, fully loaded, 1988 Fiero GT! And if you did find and pay $10k for a low mile survivor, you wouldn't want to rack up miles on it! SO, with this car, you can really GET OUT AND DRIVE IT AND HAVE A BLAST, all without feeling guilty! Any questions; just holler, or if you want to talk in more detail! Thanks for looking!
