Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1965 Oldsmobile F85 442 Convertible. My wife and I have always wanted to have a car to drop the top and cruise to all of the car shows in our moderate Georgia climate. We love the older style and distinct body lines of the classic muscle car convertibles and have dreamed of having a car that we drive in the various parades and cruises. This was going to be a family project, but due to the lack of time and space and too many other projects keeping us busy, we’re putting this one up for auction. Please check out all of the details and look at the additional pictures on my photo bucket link included in this auction. I have tried my best to describe everything I can about this convertible. Also remember that this is a NO RESERVE AUCTION AND THIS CAR WILL SELL TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK AT MY CLASSIC 65 OLDS! SEE PHOTOBUCKET LINK BELOW FOR MORE PICTURES: http://s621.photobucket.com/albums/tt297/jtmkustoms/1965%20Oldsmobile%20442/?albumview=slideshow Body: The body on this convertible is extremely solid with no through rust issues that most cars of this age have. When I purchased this car my plans were to restore it into a car for the family to cruise to all of the local and interstate car shows, but I just don’t have the time to finish it. I wanted to start with a good solid Southern car that wouldn’t take too much work to finish out. The front fenders, hood, cowl and firewall, inner fenders, doors, A-pillars, inner and outer rockers, deck lid, taillight panel, trunk pan, inner and outer wheel wells, convertible top boot area, convertible top frame, quarters, windshield pillars and core support are all incredibly solid and free from major through rust. The frame is straight, solid and free from rust and accident damage. There is some through rust in the floorboards that has been roughly repaired, but included in this auction is a brand new set of full length replacement floor pans I was planning on installing but never got around to putting in. All of the floor pan braces are solid which should make the floor pan replacement pretty simple. The car has been repainted at some point in the past, and the driver’s side quarter has had an area of repair. From what I can tell it looks like someone had an incident in a parking lot with a pole. The area is approximately 2 feet long and 11” in height. This has been repaired but having done bodywork before I can spot it. I have inspected it thoroughly and it does not extend into the crucial and hard to fix areas of the taillight panel, door jamb area, wheel opening of the quarter panel or trunk area. The repair is driver quality, but if you’re looking for a show quality finish you may wish to rework this area. I was planning to repair it at some point but time has not been on my side. Overall the body is in excellent condition and with very minimal repairs could be a great cruise-in show stopper or every day driver quality car. Trim and Glass: All of the factory original trim is on the car with the exception of the center piece of boot well trim (see pictures). All of the factory emblems are present. The bumpers are free from rust and major damage. The front grill is in excellent original condition with no dents or cracks. All trim pieces are in good driver quality condition and are perfect candidates for restoration. All of the original factory glass is in the car. It is all in good driver quality condition, free from cracks and delamination. Interior: The interior of this car is all present including the factory bucket front seats and center console option. The center console still has the working factory original tachometer. The original factory back seat and factory trim panels and door panels are all present and in good driver quality condition. The dash is all original and has never been cut or modified, but the dash pad does have a few small cracks from age. The original factory radio is missing, but the radio area has not been cut out to fit an aftermarket replacement. The car does have a power convertible top and all of the original components are present. Included in this auction is a brand new carpet set, a new factory floor pan sound deadener kit, a new convertible top with plastic window, a new convertible top headliner, all of the tack strips for the convertible top and a new boot well lining. The interior of this car can be finished out easily with all of the included extras and could be ready to cruise in before the springtime! Drive Trane: From what I can tell, this motor is a 1964-1966 330. The casting number is 381917 and has an id code of 1. I do not know if this is the original motor to this car, but it is the right year model motor to match the car. The car does have a factory 4-barrel Rochester Quadra-jet carburetor. The motor runs and drives, but I have only yard driven it. The car has been sitting for several years and is in need of a good tune up. The transmission is a turbo TH400 3-speed automatic. The transmission has all three gears and does not slip or surge. The car’s original factory setup for the transmission was a rare switch pitch TH 400. The car still has all of the electrical controllers on the throttle linkage for the switch pitch transmission. At some point during the car’s life, the original switch pitch TH400 transmission was replaced with a later model TH400 transmission. I do not have the original switch pitch transmission. The car is equipped with factory power steering and drum brakes. The car is also has a heavy duty 4 core radiator. The car has a factory 10 bolt rear end, I cannot detect any roaring or whining. With a good tune up, a brake job and some new tires this car could probably easily become a good daily driver. WHEELS AND TIRES PICTURED ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION. A SET OF ROLLER WHEELS WILL BE INSTALLED FOR TRANSPORT. GOOD LUCK BIDDING AND THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK!!! I KNOW HOW HARD IT CAN BE BUYING A CAR SIGHT UNSEEEN. I HAVE GONE TO GREAT LENGHTS TO TAKE AS MANY PICTURES AS POSSIBLE TO TRY TO SHOW THE VEHICLE'S TRUE CONDITION, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT ALL THE PICTURES AT THE PHOTOBUCKET LINK. I AM AN HONEST SELLER WITH 100% FEEDBACK AND TAKE THIS AUCTION SERIOUSLY. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE AND DON'T HESITATE TO MESSAGE ME OR CALL ME AT 678-758-1557. THANKS! JT TITLE: Georgia is a non-title state for vehicles older than 1986 & didn't even start issuing titles for new cars at all until 1961. Therefore this 1965 Oldsmobile is exempt from title here & has no title. However, if you live in a state which requires a vehicle of this year to be titled, I WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH THE PAPERWORK YOU NEED TO GET YOUR TITLE QUICKLY & EASILY. This means the winning bidder will get a T-7 bill of sale, a state VIN inspection certificate & an official letter from the state of GA confirming that this vehicle is exempt from title in this state. This paperwork will allow you to register the vehicle if you live in a non-title state such as Georgia. This paperwork will also automatically transfer into an actual title if you live in a state which requires a title on a vehicle of this year. I know some of you may be thinking that your tag office is hard to deal with & they just will not issue you a title if you don't have a title from the seller. I understand your hesitation but please believe me when I tell you... they have absolutely no choice but to issue you a title on this vehicle. Every County in every State is governed by the rules of the United States Department Of Transportation. The law says that if a vehicle is brought from a non-title state into a title requiring state & there is valid paperwork from the non-title state... the title requiring state MUST issue a clean, clear, title for that vehicle in the new state. It's the law & no matter how hard to deal with your tag office may be, they WILL issue you a title. There are several states which don't require titles on older vehicles. If there wasn't a unified law to cover these vehicles nationwide, people who moved from a non-title state to a new state may very well find that their very valuable classic automobiles couldn't be tagged in the their new home state, that is not the case. No one has had any trouble obtaining their title with the information I provide. You won't either. It is as easy as a regular transfer of ownership. BIDDING: Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this vehicle. Anyone wishing to inspect this car or have the car inspected is welcome to do so, but inspections must be completed prior to bidding and prior to the auction’s end. If you have little or no feedback please do not bid without first sending me your contact information through ASK SELLER A QUESTION link in this listing or give me a call so that we can speak on the phone prior to you placing your bid. Deposit will be due within 24 hours of the close of this auction. If the deposit is not paid or other arrangements are not made with the seller, you will receive a nonpayment strike on your feedback rating and I will re-list this car. Full payment must be made within the eBay allotted 7 days as is the eBay policy or arrangements must be made with the seller, or you will lose your deposit. All members with genuine interest in this car are more than welcome to ask questions. All will be answered promptly. If you look at my feedback you will see that all buyers and sellers have been very happy dealing with me. ADDITIONAL TERMS: I have lost a lot of time and money due to non-paying bidders and this will not be tolerated. This is not a game. I am an honest seller and wish to deal with honest buyers only, NO SCAMMERS OF ANY SORT WILL BE TOLERATED. It is your job to satisfy yourself to the best of your abilities as to the validity and the correctness of this ad, which may include hiring a non-affiliated third party to inspect this vehicle if you so desire prior to bidding.
