Vehicle Detail
1977 Honda CB400F Up for bid is my 1977 CB400F. If you are viewing this listing you probably already know all about the impressive history of these bikes so I won't bore you with the details. If you are interested in learning more, there are plenty of resources available to you via your favorite search engine. I will try my best to describe the bike as accurately and honestly as possible. I will describe both the good and the not so good. I've posted as many pictures as eBay will allow me (24 pictures) so you can have a better idea of what condition the bike is in and have a good idea of exactly what you are buying. I took these pictures yesterday so the bike will look as it does in the pictures when you pick it up. It might have a few extra miles as I'm sure I'd like to take the bike out for one last ride before handing it over. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I purchased this bike about two years ago and since have only put a couple thousand miles on it as I usually only ride it on the weekends. The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm moving back to NYC and I have no place to store it there. I love this bike but I'd rather sell it than store it on the streets of NYC. The bike is a very clean example of a 1977 CB400F. It currently has 12,855 miles on it which is relatively low for a bike this age. The bike has treated me very well and has never left me stranded. Nor has it ever left any oil on my garage floor. I've done my best to take care of it and keep it as clean as possible. It comes with a clear Florida title and a set of two keys. I'm not an expert, but as far as I can tell, the bike is all original with the exception of the muffler and tires. Although the muffler is not original, the head pipes are original and in great shape with no dents (please view the pictures for details). When I first purchased the bike I planned on replacing the muffler with an original one. But after spending a day riding it I fell in love with the sound of this muffler. The muffler has two holes in it that are viewable only by looking from underneath the bike. The holes are not viewable otherwise. I suspect that the great sound of the muffler is due to these two holes in the muffler. The side covers were painted black by the previous owner. I'm not sure why he painted them but I suspect that he did so in order to repair a crack. I personally prefer the black color as it reminds me of the 1976 CB400F and I feel that it makes the bike look a little more sportier but I understand that some of you purists out there might not feel the same. The chrome has some lite pitting but is in overall very good shape and it polishes up very nicely (please view the pictures for details). The only place I'm not totally happy with the chrome is on the chain guard and a couple spots on the rear wheel. A tear in the seat vinyl seems to have had been repaired in the past by the previous owner and is still OK. The seat foam and seat pan are in great shape and solid The gas tank has some scratches/nicks but nothing too major (please check out the pictures for details). There is a very small dent on the top of the tank. It is about the size of a pen head and is pretty shallow. I was not able to get the dent to show in the pictures as it is very small and only viewable from certain angles. The inside of the tank has some rust but the fuel filter prevents it from creating a problem. A couple of months ago the start button stopped working but the bike can be easily started with the kick starter. It usually starts on the first kick. After doing some research, it seems that the start button is a common problem on these bikes. A new start button assembly can be had here on eBay for around $100. As I was taking pictures yesterday I noticed that the headlight is out. I'm not sure when the headlight went out as I only ride during the day. The turn signals and tail light are working fine. A new headlight can be had for around $50. In conclusion, Although this bike is not perfect it is a bike that anyone can be proud of owning. It is a blast to ride and lots of fun on the wide-open country roads here in north-central Florida. You would be hard-pressed to find a cleaner example of this bike. The combined natural good-looks and great sound gets you noticed. I get lots of looks and compliments every time I ride. I'm starting the auction at a low starting bid with no reserve so everyone has a chance to own this classic. Again, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Terms: For your safety and mine PayPal is the only form of payment accepted. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auctions end. The remaining balance is due within 7 days of auctions end. I will not ship this bike. I'd be happy to help in anyway I can but it is the buyer's responsibility to pick up the bike or arrange for shipping. I hear good things about uship.
