Vehicle Detail
I bought this bus 6 years ago and have driven it 6,860 miles. I have really enjoyed owning, maintaining, and driving it. The previous owner had it 16 years during which he restored it. Restoration was completed in 1993. It was a good restoration replacing inner & outer rocker panels, front floorboards and half of cargo area floor. This bus has no rust! Has been garaged for the last 22 years. Colors are Ruby Red & Pearl White as selected by previous owner. Interior is in good condition. The middle seat is included and in excellent condition. I can install the middle seat for you if you buy the bus and tell me you want it installed before showing up to get it. I do not haul many passengers and the seat was always in my way. The cargo area is spacious with middle seat removed. The exterior paint is decent and in good condition although not a high quality repaint at time of restoration. Presentable with no cracking or peeling, no rust. Bus comes with fresh oil change, Shell Rotella T straight 30 weight oil. I have always used Premium gasoline. Front brakes are CSP disc brakes with a 1967 master cylinder. I installed the CSP kit, rebuilt rear brakes, replaced all hoses & converted system to DOT 5 fluid. The cost of the CSP kit alone was $1410.00. I think that included the new master cylinder and other associated parts. Included in sale is a full length roof rack I had custom made. Everything I have accumulated for the bus will go with it. This includes many spare parts, maintenance and parts manuals, magazines, 3" binder nearly full of receipts. New voltage regulator, new Optima 6 volt battery 18 months ago, new Wolfsberg West seat belts, 3ea.for rear seat.Middle seat has no seat belts. New left tie rod, new NOS generator 3500 miles ago and two used spare generators, one starter used. Gene Berg shifter I installed, original shifter included. Wolfgang Stainless Steel Safari windshields in front, not rear. I do not drive the bus in rain or even wet roads but one day going to a car gathering I got caught in rain & the Safari windshields do leak as most all of them do. If you need to drive in rain you will need to research and find a better seal. I removed the wipers so I could open the Safaris but the original wipers are included in the sale. New steering wheel, original included in case you ever want to restore it. Matching set of 2 1966 Bus license plates. Logos and flags are for supporting our state university football and baseball teams, the South Carolina fighting Gamecocks. They are high quality decals & easily removable if you wish. AM radio and horn works, clock does not. All lights work but you have to hold the lever for the right turn signal, left stays in detent like it should. Clear South Carolina title in my name only. Four new P225/75R14 tires 5,900 miles ago.I repainted the wheels and let them dry 2 weeks before the new tires were installed. Please do not ask amount of reserve, it is very reasonable and much less than I have invested. I consider the bus in above average condition, however there is no warranty. The bus is 46 years old one ton vehicle, not a new modern van. It is a driver and not a 100 point show bus & has some scratches and rock dings you might expect for it's age. I have touched up those and have matching paint included so you can touch up paint as needed. Please bid only if you can follow through & complete the transaction. A $300.00 non-refundable deposit using Paypal or overnight certified check required within 24 hours after auction closes. Balance due in cash or certified funds at pickup within 14 days. If certified check is from bank I have never heard of it will have to clear before I release the bus. Bank of America would work best for me. Sale includes a logbook I have kept over the years with all details of work performed and important, helpful information. Have all receipts. I love the old bus but I am aging at an alarming rate and it is simply time for a new owner. I reserve the right to end auction early if bus sells locally. Thanks for looking at my auction and good luck. Bid with confidence, read my feedback. I am a retired pilot and aircraft mechanic, I don't cut corners and have cared for this bus. If close enough, please visit to inspect bus before bidding or get an independent inspection. Please ask questions, I am retired and love the questions & will respond quickly to your questions. On Jan-12-12 at 07:37:00 PST, seller added the following information: I have added, if it works, two pictures of middle seat. The seat is in my storage shed. I was wrong, the seat does have 3 seat belts. Thanks to all who have bidded! On Jan-13-12 at 06:59:43 PST, seller added the following information: The mileage shown is what the odometer reads. I believe it is really 130,810 miles being a 1966 vehicle. I doubt anyone would think a 46 year old vehicle would only have 30,810 but I wanted to be sure there is no misunderstanding.
