Vehicle Detail
1963 Ford Thunderbird Landau. VIN: 3Y87Z159371 Door tag decodes as follows: 63B 2-door Landau Hardtop (Vinyl roof) Thunderbird Z Fieldstone Tan exterior paint color (63 could be Rose Beige) 74 Vinyl Interior trim – Pearl Beige in color 05F Schedule build date – June 05th 63 DSO – Memphis 1 3.00 Rear Axle ratio 4 Cruise-O-Matic Transmission As I understand it, this was one of the last 63 Landaus off the production line. It has power windows, power driver seat, factory air conditioning, factory AM/FM radio, with simulated wood grain interior. I bought this car in 1973, from a small used car lot in Arkansas, this was my first car. I managed to keep it all these years with the intent of restoring it one day. Long story made short, I don’t have the time, money or the place, to restore it and do it right. For as long as I have owned this car it has been white with a black vinyl roof. I have no idea when, where or why the color change was done. This car may look like, but it is not a Principality of Monaco Landau. The car has been sitting under a tarp in my garage not running for the last 10 years so not much still works. There are a number of ding, dents, body imperfections, some rust and rot issues. The front floor boards are rusted through. The engine does crank, if you pour gas down the carb it will fire up but will only run for a few seconds as there is no gas flow from the gas tank. This car will need to be completely redone and gone thru inside and out. All the extra parts I have to include the replacement floor boards will go with the car. If your not interested in a car that requires rot replacement than please look at my 1965 Corvair also listed on e-bay. This car would make a great restoration project as its 50th birthday is a year and a half off. Still time to do it right and get it ready for next years Scottsdale auction or use it as a parts car. It is being sold as is no warranty or guarantee of any type provided. The car will need to be moved by trailer. It has a current clean Oklahoma title, registration and plates that expire July 2012. The car is located at our home in Oklahoma. We have moved to Virginia and I do not have the time, money or space to work on it here. Pickup arraignments are negotiable as the vehicle is still stored in the garage under a tarp. A $500.00 deposit to be paid within 48 hours of end of auction and balance due at time of pickup. If you have any question, please call Joe at 703-670-6624.
