After looking at about 40 356 porsches over 3 years,i found the one i liked and bought it in 06 from a private collector.This car was never on e-bay.What attracted me was the rustfree and unwelded body,the 75hp motor and the electric sunroof. This coupe was well taken care of all its life,an original california blackplate car till '87 it moved to colonial virginia and then to dallas when i bought it.A repaint in the late 80s in the original ruby red color shows well even today.There are a few chips ansd thin spots but the paint inside and out still has the wow factor.The repaint was of high quality,all glass was removed,all doorjambs and the interior were painted.My magnet search showed some filler in the right door.The previous owner had the whole car painted insted of just the door that was carelessly opened against a tall curb. The original engine has been replaced sometimes in its life by a stoddart built correct 75hp motor.The engine number is 489956 616/2 310.Carburetors are Zenith and have been rebuilt.The brakes have been gone through,drums have been powdercoated. The dash sported an eighties casette radio that worked off a reostat[the horror!]Luckily it did not take long to remove this mess.The dash was not mutilated.I have since found an original radio that is part of this auction. The car runs and drives well,it still has the 6 volt system,all glass is good[a new windshield was installed at time of repaint]. The interior is original material and pattern tan vinyl and is in great shape,leaving for one dime size tear in the driver bottom cushion.The carpet is original style square weave,the onepiece rubber floormat is in great shape as are the perios acessory sisal mats.Headliner ,doorpanes and all chrome are in great shape.The chrome rims are good and the continental tires have a lot of life left.Spare tire,jack and toolkit are present.Al rubber seals and gaskets are soft and supple.The steering wheel is another 80s throwback,it is a wooden nardie.Made it easier to get my long legs in and out of the car,thats why i never shopped for an original.For questions and inspections please call dirk at 214/707 9525.
