Vehicle Detail
A COLLECTORS DREAM, This has to be the lowest mileage one of 1,500 15th Anniversary Trans Am’s on the planet!!! It is one of only 1,000 automatics produced 28 years ago…they came either stripped with roll down windows and stick or loaded with automatic. Second owner with over 4 inches thick of EVERY piece of documentation, photos and paraphernalia since new!!!! I am the second owner and have owned the car for the past 4 years. Having owned one in 1986 and considered it one of the best looking Trans Am’s ever produced I sought for many years to find one in collector condition. The story is long and I won’t bore the masses but this car was the one that almost go away. Included in the MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE all inclusive archive of documentation is a letter from the original owners who took delivery on 4-28-1984 in Kansas City, MO who lovingly drove it to their home in Sioux Falls, SD. They owned it for the next 23 years driving it only on weekends and trailering it to shows winning three first-place awards. Since I took stewardship I have taken great care to maintain the cars integrity while I must admit doubling the mileage from the 535 when I received it. I took the liberty of having the license plate bracket removed and holes filled and front bumper cover painted to restore the car to its rightful grace. I also had the air-conditioning pump replaced and brought up to current refrigerant standards. The alternator and batter have been replaced along with a batter kill switch under the hood to maintain the battery when sitting idle. I was also told that the original tires (which I kept and come with the car) were unsafe because the rubber had hardened. I tried to stay original but the Gatorback is no longer produced so I went with today’s variant from Goodyear. In 1969 Pontiac (no longer in business…can you say collectable) introduced a new trim level to the Firebird family the Trans Am (WS-4) package. They produced a limited number in all white with blue striping. To commemorate the anniversary of this unique union of style and performance Pontiac introduced a 10th Anniversary Edition in 1979 and this 15th Anniversary Edition in 1984 and continued the tradition in 1989, 1994 and 1999. This particular car was produced during the Reagan era as well as the same year as the classic Van Halen album named after the year (1984), it was also during my high school yearsJ It includes the WS-6 handling package that increased rear sway bar size to 25mm working in conjunction with the massive 34mm front bar. The shocks were tuned for their new rolling stock-white-faced 16x8 aluminum wheels wearing 245/50VR16 Goodyear Eagle “Gatorback” tires which contributed to the 0.87g handling performance. With 10.5-inch ventilated front and 10.5-inch non ventilated rear disc brakes, stopping from 60 to 0 mph took only 130 feet. While hardly impressive by today’s standards, (28 years ago) this put the Trans Am on par with the Corvette and ahead of many other performance cars of the day. Under the hood rest’s the most powerful engine option for 1984, the L69 305 H.O. which generated 190 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque, a healthy 15hp bump from the years Crossfire Injection variant. Fuel is delivered through an electronic Q-jet, and the cold air is inhaled through a functional offset hood scoop. I could go on but needless to say this car is as I mentioned in the beginning a collectors dream! Two loving owners, 1k miles, stored in climate controlled conditions there is no other like it on the planet I am certain have looked and continue to watch. On Jan-04-12 at 17:24:56 PST, seller added the following information: Hi everyone, I just noticed a mistake in my description. The origianl owners first saw the car in Kansas City, MO and then sought out a local dealer in Sioux Fall's, SD then upon taking delivery on 4-28-1994 lovingly drove it to their home in Huron, SD (120 miles away!) Sorry for the mistake it was late when I wrote the description. I also forgot to mention that on 12-10-2007 ALL of the cars fluids and filters were replaced by the Pontiac dealership including oil, brake fluid, transmission, transaxle, rear differential, power steering and radiator flush. I was asked to put up one of the car's sticker/options and apparently because I am at the max 24 pics and ebay will not allow the change of a listing once there are bids I cant. If anyone wants that scan or additional pics I can be reached at dpclark770@aol.com and then send as attachment.
