This is a 1961 VW single cab factory pick up with fold down gates and treasure chest doors on both sides, and painted safari windows. . The vehicle has been recently restored in a semi custom fashion to include period correct dove blue paint, painstakingly matched to the VW L-31 paint code, correctly upholstered "hump back" seat, correct grey interior and roof panels .Inside of bed, gates, interior, and engine compartment fully painted as they were at the factory. The bus has seen only a few hundred miles since completion, including a 300 mile trip to LA and back for a VW bus show. The engine is a strong running 1600 dual port motor, with new 34-pict carb, fuel pump, coil, plug wires, plugs, gaskets, etc. and a full set of freshly powdre coated semi gloss black engine tins. Drive train and suspension system includes:New 12 volt rebuilt swing axle transmission with Wolfgang straight axle kit, and modified, spring plates, lowered 3.5 inches in the rear, (no reduction boxes) modified bus rear brake drums, and full set of BRM 5-spoke rims wearing 165/15 tires.CB performance 2-inch narrowed adjustable beam up front, new narrowed tie rods, new draglink, narrowed and dimpled, spring plates, all new brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes, brake hoses, bearings, etc.new shocks all around.Rebuilt wolfgang International spindles with re-bushed king pins, and good german link pins.This single cab runs strong, handles well, and is not super low, so it still has a great bus feel with a little more stability and pep. Before countless hours of body and paint work, the following panels were replaced correctly . All 4 jacking points, inner and outer rocker panels, and center cross member removing all structural rust and damage from the vehicle. The rust free shell was then stripped, straightened, body work and epoxy primed, and then painted with Metalux dove blue base coat, followed by Metalux clear coat, and a then cut and buffed to a beautiful dove blue finish. This bus looks great, the color is right on, and is quite impressive on the streets. The bus has factory correct hardboard grey interior paneling on the doors, kick panels, and overhead. The single cab also has a set of front opening safari windows, brand new set from Wolfgang International, for cruising the streets with the wind in your face. Dash , parcel tray, under seats, and spare tire area all painted dove blue as well, with an original clear needle speedometer, and brand new flat-4 commercial black steering wheel. Floor mat is a brand new wolfsburgwest reproduction that is correct in both form and function. This single cab has a complete new wiring harness from wiring works, a new turn signal switch, tail light assemblies, front turn lenses, and 12 volt electrical system, with new battery. New rubber includes, both treasure chest door seals, engine compartment seal, fire wall, and breast plate seals, tail light, turn signal, headlight rubbers.pedal pads, knee protector on steering column, complete door cab rubbers, rebuilt cab window frames, with new slider latches, upright seals, quarter window seals, window glass felts, etc.. The interior underbelly area is finished in a truck bed liner, with the inside of the belly doors painted dove blue and clear coated. All gate latches, hinges, and catches function properly. The emblem is painted the correct silver white with a swatch of dove blue across the center, the bumper blades are original bus bumpers, not repros, straightened, sand blasted, and epoxy primed, with new uprights, all painted in single stage silver white L-82 paint.
