Vehicle Detail
Thank you for your interest in my Maserati Zagato Biturbo Spyder - One of only 1049 2.5L ever built. Maserati Biturbo Maserati Biturbo was introduces in Turin Auto Show in 1981, as the first new Maserati to be built under the Alejandro de Tomaso ownership. It had a 2.5 L V6 3 valve per cylinder and was the first production car to use a twin turbo layout producing 192bhp@5500 rpm and 220lb-ft@3000rpm (the US catalyst version had 185). Performance figures were sensational due to low curb weight of about 2,400lbs (1088kg), the twin-turbo rocket could accelerate to 60mph in 6.5 seconds, which was pretty high-end performance for the period- Especially for a four seater with decent practicality and an unashamedly luxurious and comfortable interior. Maserati Biturbo Zagato Spider In 1984 Maserati had debut the stunning two seater drop-top Spider derivative at the Turin Motor Show, designed and bodied by legendary coachbuilder Zagato Milano. In developing the Spyder version, Zagato didn’t just chop the top off the coupe, but redesigned the complete car, reducing the wheelbase from 2600mm to 2400mm and the overall length from 4155mm to 4043mm with a result of a lower and better weight distribution, these changes contributed to a better handling as well as to the new and stunning design. These pedigrees are comfortable, luxurious and practical. But when pressed hard they can produce exiting acceleration and handling. The Spyders were hand crafted at Zagato Milano until 1991, being the last Biturbo in production. The Maserati Zagato’s compact size, high performance, stylish design, and luxurious interiors continue to be a landmark to this day. These Zagatos are rare and exotic. Only 1049 Maserati Spider 2.5L were ever produced, rapidly becoming desirable classics, and a great investment. This Zagato This Zagato is still in it's superb original factory Silver paint on original hand stitched tan leather interior and blue top. It is a 1986 automatic with a rare original period correct original MIC body kit. It has an extremely low and documented 30,000 Miles. The car is absolutely correct and original. It was always carefully kept in a private climate controlled garages and shows no rust. It comes with documentation since the original owner. This Zagato runs and drives smoothly, however it was unused and kept in a car collection for the past few years - so a tune up would be neccary. It is being sold As-Is but you are very welcome to come and check the car before bidding. It has a very small tear in the roof (pictured), the right window opens slowly and it misses the dash time clock and dash emblem. The original walnut’s lacquer could be renewed in some places (pictured). Other than that the original interior is intact and the hand stitched Italian leather is great. There is a small area of sun damaged paint on the fuel tank cover area, other than that the paint looks great and shines beautifully. All chrome and plastics are in great condition. It will not take much to make this stunning Zagato into a show car. It is rare to find such an original and well kept Zagato. This unique Maserati Zagato Biturbo Spyder will be a great addition to any car collection. International bidders are welcome. Good luck bidding and have a great Christmess and New Year.
