Vehicle Detail
1965 Pontiac, Pontiac Historic Services certified GTO, 389 cu in tri-power motor rebuilt in 2008 to 1965 specifications The body is straight and correct factory color paint, Palmetto Green, has very few blemishes. It was stripped, sanded and painted with two stage paint. The body is way better than average with very little signs of rust on the undercarriage and no replaced floor pans. I have spent over $5,000.00 on this car in the past 6 years including some interior upholstery replacement, brake/steering system overhaul, and a complete engine rebuild in 2008. I can give you a complete breakdown on the engine rebuild and components, but in general a newly rebuilt tri-power setup was installed, correct 1965 heads and cam were replaced, it was bored to about 400 cu. in. and new pistons. The motor was correctly rebuilt so that unleaded, high test, gas can be used. Originally the vehicle was built as a 4barrel car and at some point a 1965 389 tri-power block was replaced. When I got the car the tri-power set up was not working properly and I ended up buying two more setups to get one that worked well. I am including the two extra setups in the auction. In addition, I have some upholstery parts from Year One, an antenna, and a ram air system that fits over the three carburetors. The value of these extra parts would easily be $1,000.00. I can provide photos of these extra parts. With a set of stock wheels (it currently has Cragar SS mag wheels) and some red line tires, this car would really be sharp. I am selling this car to get my collection down but it is a very suitable daily driver. It was built as a no options/go fast muscle car. It is a second year GTO, the original muscle car. It has no tach, no center console, an am radio (that comes on but will not pick up a station), back up lights don't work, No A/C, NO power brakes or steering, but the cigarette lighter works. Please be aware that since this is a nearly 50 year old automobile it is far from perfect. If you are not familiar with older cars and the problems associated with them, please do not waste your time and mine bidding on this auction. The vehicle is offered where is, as is. You or your representative are welcome to inspect it in Aiken, SC. You are responsible for any transportation expenses. A $500.00 PayPal deposit is required within 48hours and the balance is due by cashier's check from a US bank within 7 days of the auction. Please do not bid if you have no feedback or any negative feedback. Feel free to call met at 803 645 3751 between the hours of 10:00am and 7:00pm EST, and ask for Rick. The car is being sold locally as well so I reserve the right to pull it anytime before the reserve or buy it now is met. On Dec-08-11 at 08:15:01 PST, seller added the following information: Several people have asked about the mileage on this vehicle. The odometer indicates 47,765 miles however I am sure that the odometer has turned over. The rebuilt motor has an estimated 300 miles on it.On Dec-11-11 at 10:59:15 PST, seller added the following information: Anyone that bids the reserve and then retracts their bid is blocked from making any more bids on any items that I sell.
