Vehicle Detail

06/73 Honda XL175, K0 Model! No Reserve Auction, starts at $0.99! Bike Runs Flawless, see Video below! Classic Desert Rat Look! This vintage Honda Enduro was rescued from years of neglect in Southern California and revived into what you see here. A previous owner went for a desert appearance by installing a Clarke oversize gas tank and a heavy duty bash plate under the engine. Thankfully, that owner stopped there and did not replace other original equipment, such as the original airbox, down pipe with heatshield, fenders, lights and gauges. In fact, other than the oversize gas tank, this bike looks completely unmolested, exactly what you want when collecting a vintage Honda! Even the original tool kit is under the seat in its vinyl bag! This XL175 start easy cold or hot. The engine sounds like a small Honda 4 stroke, with no unusual noises and absolutely no smoke from the exhaust. The 5 gears shift easy, and the clutch pull is light with no slipping. Both front and rear brakes are plenty powerful to haul the bike down. When at a stop, both my feet rest flat on both sides, and I am 5'11" and 185. The brake lights operate from both the foot and hand lever. Both hand levers are new The headlight works on high and low beam, and the rear parking light works perfect. The turn signals illuminate, however they do take some time to actually flash. Gauge backlighting work perfect, however neutral light does not light up. Horn works great! The seat cover is original, has zero tears, is still very soft and the seat foam is cushy & comfortable. NEW items on the bike are handgrips, 6V battery, air filter, and a brand new OEM Clarke fuel valve! Carburetor has been completely flushed clean. Engine oil changed within the last 100 miles. Both tires have plenty of tread, however some age checking is visible on the front tire. Clarke gas tank has some visible striations in the plastic, however it is very solid and doesn't leak at all. I have no paperwork for this Honda XL175, however the VIN is no longer in the DMV books and I will provide a Bill Of Sale. This is not the original speedometer, as the style of construction of the can and lens do not match the tachometer. I have owned an XL175 K0 before, and the tachometer is the correct style. Therefore the true motorcycle mileage is unknown. Also the speedometer cable is missing. Yes, unfortunately a previous owner lost or misplaced the side covers. The rubber grommets are still in the frame loops waiting for a nice pair of covers. There is the original tool kit! Also note the spare fuse holder is still in place pushed into its slot in the airbox. The ignition key switch does not operate the seat latch. With a 10mm wrench it takes all of about 2 minutes to undo the two nuts that hold the latch striker to the seat pan. Here is a short video of the bike running and riding! Remember this is a 38 year old motorcycle, it is not perfect and will require periodic maintenance and repairs. That said, other than a speedometer cable, and titling, this bike is turn key and ready for many miles of entertainment! Please do not bid if you can't pay. Possibility of transporting bike in the SF Bay Area and Southern Cal, but please ask first. If you cannot pick the bike up and wish to ship it, I can bring the bike to a local drop off point (such as Oakland Airport) for any arranged shipping you decide to use. Please note shipping can be quite expensive (upwards of $600+ towards the east coast), so please if you plan to ship the bike do your homework before bidding. As an example, I used www.haulbikes.com last year to ship a similarly sized bike from Rochester, MN. to my door in Northern Cal. Cost was $675, and bike was transported in a purpose built, dedicated full size enclosed trailer pulled by a Freightliner Tractor. This cost was quite comparable when I was shopping for a transport company. On Dec-07-11 at 19:30:59 PST, seller added the following information: Man I have to apologize, I set this entire auction up using a Firefox browser, and come to find out if I use Internet Explorer to view the auction the pictures and layout are completely messed up, making picture viewing and reading the verbiage I wrote next to impossible. Since there are now bids, I can't make any changes to that. Arrgh.... I've received a couple of questions regarding the title: I do not have a title. The VIN# is NOT on the CA DMV books, making titling simpler and no back fees. I will provide a bill of sale for the winner of the auction. I recommend you use a Firefox or even a Google Chrome browser to view the auction, as the layout is perfect. Again I apologize for this, I know it's frustrating to scroll back and forth to view.
