Vehicle Detail

1962 Plymouth Savoy 2dr post (sedan). I purchased this car from a friend, who purchased it from the original owner. This car still has the original title from 1962 and is still in the original owner’s name! The original owner parked the car in his garage in 1973 when he purchased a new car. The car has not been on the road since. It has been parked indoors from 1973 until last year. The car overall is in very restorable condition. On a side note, this car would make the PERFECT donor car for a Super Stock 413 max wedge clone. It is the same body and body style as the 1962 Plymouth Super Stock cars. I’ll start with what it does need. The car needs front fenders because they are badly rotten. They are strangely rotted out and the rest of the car is pretty solid. I don’t know how or why that happened, but it is what it is. The car also needs a new front valance. It is bent up pretty bad. The driver’s side rear quarter was also dented in a little at the bottom years ago, and this caused the bottom of the quarter in the trunk extension area to rust some. Another area that will need some attention is the inner fender well flange at the top of the fender because it has some rust. This car does have a lot going for it. I’ll start with the exterior. The floors are very solid. I only noticed a pin hole on the driver’s floor board. The door jams are all like new. The doors are in pretty good shape. Very minor rust, and the lips on the sheet metal on the bottoms of the doors are barely swelling. All of the exterior trim is there and most of the pieces are in good condition. The sheet metal frame rails front and rear are solid and in good shape. The trunk floors are in great shape and solid. Really the only rust underneath the car is the trunk extensions where the back of the trunk meet the lower quarter panels. All of the glass is there and in good shape. The grill is in excellent condition and the headlight bezels are in good shape too. The interior of the car is complete. The dash and gauge cluster is in good shape. All the door panels are in good shape. The car has factory radio delete and the delete plate is there and in good shape (This is another feature the Super Stock clone would require). All of the interior trim is there. The car came with a rubber floor mat from the factory. This is not in very good shape and would need to be replaced. The original owner had put a clear plastic seat cover on the front seat when the car was new. Unfortunately, this seat cover ended up rotting out the factory upholstery. The drive train is a slant six, three speed manual trans with three on the tree shifter. I have never attempted to get it running, but the person I purchased it from said he had put a battery in it and squirted some gas in the carb and he did get it to fire up. The car only has 53,000 miles on it. If someone did want to keep the six cyl, I would bet it wouldn’t need much. The car also has the original 8 3/4 rear axle. The original leaf springs are weak and saggy from sitting in a garage the last 38 years. Mancini Racing does sell a rear spring hanger to fit this car that will accept an A-body leaf spring. I hate to see this car go. I love the early B-bodies and their Super Stock heritage. I don’t have a place to keep the car indoors and it deserves to be kept inside. I need the room and extra cash to finish another project car. Like I said, this car would make the PERFECT ’62 Plymouth Super Stock 413 Max Wedge clone. If I had the room to keep it, that is what it would end up being. This car also has a lot of the original pamphlets and little brochures that came with the car when new that are in beautiful condition. There are pictures shown below of a couple pieces, and there are pictures of the rest in the photobucket link that you can click below. For payment, I will require a $250 paypal deposit, and will require buyer pay balance at time of pick up with cash. Thanks for looking.
