I have for sale a 1957 Ford Fairlane Skyliner Retractable Hardtop. This car has the original paint and no bondo.It has the original 312 thunderbird engine that has been rebuilt but never started.The outer parts on the engine such as the intake,carb,valve covers and headers have been just placed on the engine with a couple bolts to hold them on during shipping.The top works fine.The original clock works and I believe the radio would if it had an antenna because when you turn it on you can hear something coming out of the speaker.The doors open and close easy and solid.The car does need some body work and a paint job.I put the right rear lower quarter skin on with a couple of pop rivets just to keep from misplacing or damaging it.I have a right and left rocker panel.The floor has had some small patches welded in and there are a few very small holes about the size of a pencil eraser.The frame is solid.The front end suspension has been rebuilt and painted.The car was stored in a heated shop for 20 years.Finding an affordable Skyliner in this original condition is rare because most of them have already been restored.I'm not really ready to sell this car because I know if I spend a little more time on it and get it running,it will bring more money.According to NADA collector car price guide,Low retail on this car is $19,780 Average retail-$34,500 and High retail is $54,855 and I am asking a lot less than the low retail to make a quick sale.so if it doesn't sell this one time of listing it on ebay,It will no longer be for sale.You can e-mail me or call my cell at 812 493-2868. On Dec-07-11 at 14:57:47 PST, seller added the following information: I am going to answer a few questions that I have got from people.One was Does the top go down properly.I guess I should of posted a picture of the car with the top down,but I just assumed people would want to see the top go up.The top does go down properly,straight and tight.All four motors that hold the top down work flawlessly as do the others that operate the top,and the trunk lid with one pull of the original switch.The wiring under the dash is all intact with no splicing and no added wiring and I believe that is true with the entire car.I haven't seen a spliced wire anywhere and that in itself is extremely rare for a 54 year old car.The car does have power steering and power brakes.I have the original hub caps and the metal basket for the trunk that is in good condition.There are 6 other 57 fords on ebay right now that are really nice cars but you won't buy any one of them for under $20,000 and up to $50,000.I am lowering the reserve and the buy it now price.This car is a wise investment that will only go up in value.Let go of some of that old rusty cash and buy this old classic for yourself for Christmas before someone else does.Thank you and good luck, Danny.
