Vehicle Detail

I stopped in at a warehouse sale in Santa Fe, NM in June 2011. This was a man cave sale including a 1960s Full Size Jeep, lots of power tools, hand tools, lumber, etc. I was checking out all the stuff when I saw a motorcycle way back in the corner under a tarp. I pulled off the tarp and couldn’t believe my eyes; a complete R69S. The owner was only the second owner of the bike and had owned it since the Seventies on the East Coast. The bike had been in the warehouse and not registered since he moved out West in the 80s. The owner had plans to put it back on the rode but had competing family priorities. Needless to say I bought the bike. The bike is unrestored and all original. It has 60691 on the odometer. The VIN #, Engine #, & Title # match with 655923 being the magic number. This bike has a clear New Mexico title. BMW riders are lucky here in Santa Fe. We have a Master BMW certified mechanic who is meticulous and loves working on vintage BMWs. I dropped off the bike and told him to get it running; here is a list of what he did: Cleaned, rebuilt, & adjusted both Bing CarburetorsRemoved the oil pan, cleaned out the old residue, inspected the oil and said there was no filings, & replaced the pan with a new seal Replaced oil, filter, & gasketReplaced both tires & tubes with vintage style Dunlops Replaced throttle cableReplaced spark plugs Replaced points and adjusted valvesReplaced fuel hoses with OEM Replaced both fuel tank pet cocks with OEMReplaced gear oil Replaced batteryReplaced hand grips with OEM Break inspection This bike is now running and starts on the 1st or 2nd kick. All parts are original BMW except the vintage after market kick stand. The center stand is original BMW. The torpedo pipes are flawless. The paint is original with dings and small scratches. The paint is worn off the top of the rear fender SEE Photo. The white pin striping is missing on the front fender and worn on the rear fender. The tank is an upgraded original BMW Hoske 8 gallon touring tank. I like the way the red tank accents the black frame and fenders; if I were restoring the bike I would keep this color scheme. To me these Hoske tanks are way cooler than the stock tanks and give the bike a chunky bad boy look. The tank is clean on the inside and has a couple of small dings SEE Photo. This bike is in great shape and a pleasure to ride. The bike does not smoke and shifts smoothly through all gears. The head light, tail light, and horn work fine. The chrome on the wheels and pipes is fantastic and shines. There is however a ding on the tail light bezel. All around this is one cool bike which rides beautifully. I know I will regret selling it. Here is a list of everything included in this auction: One 1962 BMW R69S 600cc Motorcycle with Clean Title SEE Photos. One good condition solo Denfield seat SEE Photos One professionally restored double (wide) Denfield seat SEE Photos.A set of Wixom fiberglass bags and mounting hardware. These bags are solid but could use new paint SEE Photo. These are the correct original bags for the R69S as Wixom was one of the few after market suppliers for BMW. Two ignition keysOne steering lock key. One vintage service/repair manual. All shipping arrangements are to be made by the buyer at their expense. I will do my best to accommodate a smooth transaction on my end. The motorcycle is located at my residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. Potential buyers are welcome to contact me with any questions via eBay or on my cell at 505-603-7206. A viewing can be arranged if you have a sincere interest in purchasing the motorcycle. A reasonable reserve has been set and a Buy It Now price has been placed on the listing for those of you who would like to avoid the auction process. Best of luck with your bidding and most importantly have fun!
