HISTORY. This vehicle was purchased a few years ago in a partially restored state out of a well known California restoration shop. The chassis had been beautifully and expertly restored. The car had been carefully disassembled in that shop in the process for a full nut and bolt concours restoration. The previous owner had inherited from his father who was the first or second owner of the car,and the car had been in the family since the early 1960s.There was a strong emotional attatchment to the car but a change in health and finances prevented the completion of the restoration. To date the previous owner had spent over$ 18,000 on the chassis and complete engine rebuild BODY Exeptional ,original, straight, clean California car partially stripped to bare metal. All the bodywork exept for the main tub has been carefully hand stripped to the original steel using chemical paint stripper and is still in that condition. This reveals a body in excellent overall condition, free of any rust or any body filler of any kind. There are a few small dings of course but the body is free of rust or accident damage. The inner bulkhead was sand blasted so that was primed for rust protection. The wood is exceptionally solid exept for the lower rails and rear floor area which had a little dry rot. These items have been professionally replaced with new parts. The rear floor was replaced with a new plywood kit.The body overall is exceptional and ready for straight forward body and paintwork. The body has been loosely assembled back on the chassis for transportation and visual purposes. CHASSIS AND DRIVELINE. The engine was sent out by the restoration shop to an MG specialist and was totally rebuilt to a very high standard using all new parts, this alone cost $6500.00. The engine was repainted using the correct factory color. The gearbox was inspected and looks excellent,it has been cleaned and painted and will only need new seals. The factory SU carburetors were bebuilt using a new factory SU master kit with all new seals, jets and needles . The chassis was completely disassembled, professionally powder-coated with all the associated parts.all the hardware was cadmium plated to factory specs. The powder-coated finish utilised was high gloss for a durable finish and long life. The chassis was then reassembled to absolute concors standards. A new Kingpin set was fitted along with all new suspension bushes, seals,trunnions,tie-rods and rubber components.New rear springs were fitted along with new shock absorbers front and rear. The brake drums were powder-coated silver and machine turned. All new brake parts were fitted along with four new splined hubs for the wire wheels. A complete new exhaust system was purchased. The black bracketry has all been sand blasted primed and black enamel painted for the correct finish.Overall the chassis along with the rebuilt engine labor and parts totalled over $18,000 and was done to an exellent professional level.
