GAS-MOTORS (828) 654-3222 1966 Chevy Corvair Corsa Thanks for viewing this super-cool 66 Chevy Corvair Corsa Convertible. This is a rare 4-speed, factory a/c, 140 hp turbo-air Corsa convertible, that's been very well-maintained. It's just come from an impressive private collection and has had a lot of restoration work done over the years. I've recently taken this car in-trade on a stunning Austin Healey and I would rate it in the "Very Good Driver" category. In fact, this sporty little number is A BLAST TO DRIVE ..... mechanically very sound, runs strong and handles as you would expect from a 66 Corvair Corsa. Cosmetically, the car is very good, but not of concours quality. It has, what appears to be, fairly recent paint and minor bodywork. There are several spots with some small "bubbles" underneath the paint (see pics). There is one scratch on the bottom of the passenger door (see pics). The interior is fantastic! The dash does have some parts which show age, with light paint chipping and chrome pitting, but the seats and carpet are superb. There's an aftermarket stereo with CD player and the original radio has also been left in place. The power top goes up and down with ease and all of the glass is in great condition. The wheels are in very good condition and the tires have plenty of tread. To make sure that it's ready to go, we treated this little beauty to a fresh tune-up and oil change. The odometer reads 27,963, b ut it may well be 127,963. Because of the year, this car is exempt from having an odometer statement, when changing hands. It has a clean, lien free title, which I hold, in house. from Hemmings.com "....A dedicated, enthusiastic club scene, helpful restoration specialists and a bountiful new and used parts supply make these second-generation Corvairs some of the most fun, unique performance cars of the 1960s to restore and drive. When the 1965 Corvairs appeared on the market, they retained the earlier cars' 108-inch wheelbase, but gained 3.3 inches in overall length and wore fresh new hardtop styling, courtesy of Bill Mitchell's design studio at GM. The original Corvairs, sold from 1960 to 1964, were hallmark designs with grille-less noses, a prominent beltline crease and an ample greenhouse. The second-generation cars refined that look into incredibly handsome, well-proportioned vehicles. The front end was reshaped into a shark-nosed prow, while the beltline crease was made subtler and topped by softly arched fenders. The new beltline and smooth body sides combined with a cove-shaped tail panel and slim roof pillars to make the sport coupe a design worthy of the best European coachbuilders. The convertible looked even more substantial due to the folding top's thicker C-pillars. The Corvair's premier trim level was the new Corsa, situated above the 500 and Monza; it replaced the Spyder and was available in sport coupe ($2,465) and convertible ($2,608) body styles. While the Monza was comprehensively equipped from the factory with front bucket seats, folding rear seats in coupes and sedans, full wheel covers, courtesy lights, door armrests, chrome wheel arch and rocker trim moldings, the Corsa carried still more. Special badges, an argent-painted rear cove panel, bright grille inserts under the rear bumper, special interior emblems and a chromed gearshift boot were fitted, along with an upgraded instrument panel with six comprehensive dials that replaced lesser Corvairs' basic three. The standard Corsa engine was a normally aspirated 140hp, 164-cu.in. Turbo-Air flat-six with four Rochester 1-bbl. carburetors...." We're always interested in trades .....
