This vehicle has been sitting more than it has been driven over the years and recently has had work done to ensure proper operation. This is a no-reserve auction. Highest bidder wins. Exterior The Exterior of this convertible is in overall “good” condition. It has been repainted many years ago. The re-paint has no orange peel but does have minor scuffs and scratches. There are small rust bubbles appearing on both sides of the vehicle under the paint (above the chrome trim bar) in the fenders, base of doors, wheel well arches, and quarter panels. Since the vehicle has been sitting, the paint is very dull and dirty, having a mild chalky appearance. The driver’s side front fender was buffed out and waxed (see picture) and looks outstanding! This provides and idea of how the rest of the vehicle should look when buffed. All chrome is in good condition. There is no significant rust in the chrome bumper tubes below the rubber bumpers. The glass is in very nice shape although there is a small area of slight fogging in the lower part of the windshield on the driver’s side. The driver’s side outside rear-view mirror can be found in the trunk, which needs repair (mechanical hinge broken). The four original Chromodora wheels are in nice shape as is the steel spare. The tires are showing their age and should be replaced sooner than later. There are flat spots on the tires and significant tread wear. Included with the sale are new black plastic headlight ring gaskets, a new “F” hood emblem, and a new Azzura trunk emblem. The tan top is in very good condition and, like the rest of this vehicle, can use a good cleaning. The tonneau cover is in good condition and could also use a good cleaning. Mechanical This vehicle starts, drives, and stops. There is a new battery, air filter, oil filter, spark plugs, ignition wires, and fuel filter. The pre-fuel pump filter was replaced not too long ago as were the rear brake calipers. The battery light is illuminated in the dash gauge and there is a slight noise coming from the alternator. With this, I am assuming the alternator may need to be replaced. This vehicle does not burn oil or drip oil. A new automatic transmission filter kit will be included with the sale. The A/C belt has been removed from the engine rendering the A/C inoperable. This vehicle shifts well through all gears with no issues. The brakes are soft but do function. Interior The interior is in “good” condition however it is currently very dirty. There are cracks in the dash top and in the center console by the emergency brake handle. The leather seats are in good condition with no rips or tears. The door panels are in “fair” condition as the bottom of each panel is warped and slightly tattered. The carpet is in “fair-good” condition. The floor mats are not present. Conclusion. Overall, this 1984 Pininfarina Azzura Spider would make a wonderful vehicle for someone to enjoy. This vehicle has been accurately described to the best of my experience and ability. Even though this vehicle starts, drives, and stops, it is a 27-year-old car and should not be considered as new.
