Vehicle Detail
This is a 1939 Mercury 4 Door Sedan. This is the First year for Mercury automobiles. This sedan is very similar to the 1939 Ford Sedan. I have a Clear Ohio Title for this Car. This car is a true Barn Find. It has been in storage for years. Apparently someone tried to do a little hot rodding to it, at one point. It was painted flat black and has some green pin striping. As far as I can tell, this is the extent of the work. The Body of the car is very solid. The Top is solid with a large patch of missing paint in the center. The Doors are solid and I did not find any of the typical rust in them. The Front Doors are standard, but the Rear Doors open Suicide Style. The Fenders are solid and straight. The Running Boards are solid and you can stand on them. The Hood is nice and solid. The Grill looks good. I believe all of the Exterior Trim is on the car. The Interior is a little shabby, but very original. The Floor Mats or carpets are missing, but this allows for a good look at the condition of the Floor Pans. The Rear Pans are nice and solid. The Front Pans have some rust in the Driver's area. The Dash is nice looking and I have the original keys for the car. The Glass is all in the car. The Right Windshield is cracked. The Left Windshield has a BB type hole in it. The Trunk is solid on one side and has a rust hole on the other. The hole isn't very large and can be patched. The original Trunk Liner is still in the Trunk, but not in great condition. The Engine is the original Flat Head V-8 that came with the car. It starts and runs. The more it runs, the better it runs. I put some Marvel Mystery oil in the crankcase and in the fuel to loosen up any engine parts that might have been sticking. This caused a little smoke, but I think it is helping make the engine run better. The Fuel pump is working and the car is running off the gas in the tank. The Transmission and Clutch are both in good working condition. The car has no Brakes. Because of the lack of Brakes, I have not driven the car any more than around the yard. With a little brake work and some tinkering, this car should road ready. I am posting good pictures and a detailed description. I will try to answer any questions through email. This car is being listed with a low starting price and no reserve. It sells to the highest bidder. I may be able to assist with delivery, for a fee, within a few hundred miles of Canton, Ohio. On Nov-19-11 at 10:32:45 PST, seller added the following information: Everything on my description above is the same. Just wanted to ad that the Water Pumps, which are also the Motor Mounts are not working properly. They are hard to turn and apparently need to be rebuilt. I understand this is a common problem and that there is a kit for this.
