Vehicle Detail
For sale, 1973 Galaxie LTD pulled from long term climate-controlled storage in pristine condition. I recently purchased this very low mile car from the original family. Classic 70's luxury muscle - 400 V8, C6 automatic, PS,PB, A/C and tilt wheel. This car was purchased new by an older non-smoker couple in the dry high desert of Montana and lovingly maintained, The car has never been kept outside - ever. I have the original documents (including window sticker) and maintenance records, it's truly a once-in-a lifetime car. You simply will not find a 70's two door collectible V8 that's a jump-in-and drive, needs-nothing car near this price. I'll do my best to describe this amazing find below: Exterior: All original paint and vinyl top in very good condition. Car spent it's entire life in dry central Montana, land of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. We only get 10 inches of total moisture per year, and no salt is used on the roads. The car is super clean everywhere - engine compartment, underneath, trunk, everything. It's really hard to imagine a 1973 vehicle being in this condition. There is not even so much as a speck of rust anywhere save for a few TINY pits on the edge of the painted moulding where the water from weekly washings collected along the top of the back deck - It can't be seen in photos or noticed, I only mention it in the interest of full disclosure. There are a few small paint chips on the front of the car from highway trips. Original CarLite glass is excellent. Chrome trim is bright with no pitting, hazing or fading, according to the inside heated storage and pampered care. There is a small road ding in the center grille moulding. I took undercar pics, but the car is just as clean underneath and there are simply no issues. I can post or send them if desired. Overall solid number 2 condition car - can't imagine you'll find one nicer. Doors close like a bank vault! Interior: Really as new condition. No sun fading, no damage, no wear, nothing. The steering wheel, pad and dash are perfect with no cracks, the upholstery and headliner mint, the carpet is very good only showing the signs of frequent vacuuming. The door panels each have one small crack at the leading edge of the armrest(shown in pic) which can't be seen with the doors closed and is not noticeable. Never any rodents or smokers. There is a small hole drilled in one of the windshield pillar trim. Everything is fresh and bright inside, really sparkling and still smells new. Mechanical: Simply excellent. Absolutely EVERYTHING works down to the ignition buzzer and fasten seat belt light. I put about 1000 miles on this car summer driving to cruise nights and shows, and also had the car thoroughly checked out by a professional mechanic. During the extended storage, the original family had an intake valve stick that caused a bent pushrod(common for the 400 engine) so as a preventative measure they had the entire top end rebuilt (even though it wasn't needed) at great expense. With the big V8 and automatic, car starts and runs out so smooth and pulls hard - and the highway gear means 80mph on the interstate all day long smooth as glass. This car is so tight, not one squeak or rattle. No engine noises, leaks, vibrations, nothing - just sweetness. With the healthy exhaust, it sounds like a 70's V8 should, Ford called the Galaxie the "Velvet Brute" for a reason. I encourage you to inspect the car in person or have it inspected - I will assist in any way possible. Underhood is hospital-clean with all original factory paint stamps and chalk marks. Originality: I changed only three things on this 100 percent original survivor, all easily changed back. I put on a mint set of vintage Appliance "Wire Mag" wheels in 15x7. I have the original wheels, hubcaps and lug nuts in perfect condition and they will be included. I had a complete aluminized 2.5" exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers installed - it really woke up the car and it sounds very healthy, like a luxury muscle car should. I have all the original exhaust including the D3AA muffler in excellent condition and can include it if you really want. I had the air cleaner lid and valve covers chromed to spruce up the engine compartment at shows - I can come up with another set of painted parts if you want. I have the original D3AA hoses that were saved when replaced and that can be included as well. Pricing/Misc: This was an expensive car in it's day - the build quality on these full size Fords was second to none. The window sticker price was $5,215 in 1973 dollars. This car is a solid number 2 condition car, and the book values show much higher than my asking price. I tried to find a comparable car for sale this condition, and I found one as nice that was listed at $12k. I know the economy isn't what it used to be, and I got a good deal on the car, so the next buyer will too. Dealers welcome as this car will only appreciate over time, and is a solid blue chip investment quality vehicle. CANADIAN BUYERS WELCOME - I am very familiar with the procedures to get the car across the border.I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE LISTING EARLY. I can store the car for a period of time while you make arrangements to ship the car - I highly recommend Kathy Gant at Certified Auto Shippers http://www.certifiedautoshippers.com/ Keywords: 65 66 67 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 Galaxie 500 XL 7 litre Torino Cobra Cyclone Shelby Boss Mach 1 Mercury Maruader X100 Park Lane Mustang Ranchero Monterey 406 427 428 429 AS IS - NO WARRANTY This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
