Vehicle Detail

I AM SELLING A 1997 JAGUAR XJR SUPERCHARGED IN VERY NICE CONDITION. IT HAS BEEN A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CAR AND WELL MAINTAINED. IT HAS SOME MINOR PAINT IMPERFECTIONS AND SOME DOOR DINGS (SEE PICTURES) BUT FOR A 14 YEAR OLD CAR IT HAS HELD UP VERY WELL THANKS TO OUR CALIFORNIA WEATHER. IT HAS VERY LOW MILES FOR THE AGE OF THE CAR AND THE INTERIOR LOOKS GREAT. THERE WAS A LEATHER REPAIR IN THE BACK SEAT AND THE CUP HOLDER DOESN'T ALWAYS STAY CLOSED (THEY DON'T WHEN THE CAR IS NEW EITHER). AC NEEDS TO BE RECHARGED AND THE SUNROOF DOESN'T WORK BUT CAN BE REPAIRED FOR A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS . BRAKES, TIRES, BELTS AND HOSES ARE ALL IN GOOD CONDITION. IT RUNS AND SOUNDS AMAZING.OEM JAGUAR WHEELS STILL LOOK AWESOME. THIS IS AN NICE CONDITION CAR PRICE BELOW WHOLESALE/TRADE-IN BLUE BOOK PRICE. TRADE IN IS $5700 AND PRIVATE PARTY IS $7300. PASSED CALIFORNIA SMOG TODAY. I HAVE 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK SO BID WITH CONFIDENCE. CAR IS LISTED LOCALLY AND AUCTION CAN BE ENDED AT ANY TIME Last of the "real" Jaguars- & a terrific deal now!By MrFixitfrom N.C. | January 16, 2008Rating from MrFixit (4.0)Comfort: 5 out of 5Performance: 5 out of 5Handling: 4 out of 5Exterior Styling: 5 out of 5Interior Design: 4 out of 5Features: 3 out of 5Value for the Money: 5 out of 5Reliability: 4 out of 5"If you've been thinking about having a mid-life crisis, well here's a perfect car to have an affair with! Originally sold in the mid- $60's; now available from 8 to 15k depending on mileage and condition. Ford acquired Jaguar in the early 90's & immediately set about improving the quality & reliability of the entire line- the downside was the cars lost their legendary inline-sixes at the end of the '97 model year, much to the dismay of Coventry & fans the world over. The '95, '96 & '97 are all essentially the same car; '97 will be the one to have owing to its "last year" status. Ride is noticeably firmer than a standard XJ. Usual weird Jag switchgear on the dash & console. Seats are terrific, albeit a little slick when cornering. Well-weighted steering with just the right amount of assist at low speed; good feedback thru the wheel which may annoy some folks (go buy a Buick). Engine is the star of the show! Barely audible purr when started & driven gently; becomes the coolest exhaust note you ever heard in your life when the hammer is dropped! Transmission seems up to the task; manual gear selection probably not a good idea, 'cause it'll need gears faster than you can choose 'em. Toss it up an on-ramp with some throttle & you'll get some noticeable body-roll; steering line is "point-&-shoot" easy, & the car seems welded to the pavement. Brakes are very good, well-modulated & for the most part fade-free. Premium gas is a must, as with all supercharged gasoline engines. Expect a combined MPG around 12-15 (gulp). Hmmm... looks like I finally found the downside. Climate controls take a little getting used to (hey, it's British); sunroof mechanism sounds cheap. Audio system however sounds great. This is not a car for those who simply wish to go fast- there are plenty of fast cars on the market now- some cheap, some pricey, & many faster than the XJR. However, there is not one other car built in the last 20 years that offers the combination of style, luxury, safety, handling & mind-melting speed together in one package. They are true bargain buys now, & may remain so for a while longer. Sooner or later, though, they will begin to appreciate, & when it happens these cars will vanish from the market as if they never existed, in my opinion at least. Now's your chance, folks- high automotive art, for the price of a used Whocaresmobile."I would recommend this vehicle to a friend: YesWhat's New for 1997Apart from gaining a contoured bench seat and three-point seatbelts for rear occupants (as with the rest of the XJ sedans) and losing the heater ducts for the same, the XJR cruises into this year unchanged.ReviewAfter 1995's last-minute resuscitation of Britain's favorite touring sedan, there aren't many changes two years later. The sporty XJR with its 322-horsepower, 4-liter turbo engine remains virtually unchanged, but does receive a comfier rear bench seat, along with three-point belts for those occupants. However, it may take those passengers a little longer to warm up during cold weather, as the car loses its rear heater ducts. We consider the XJR to be one of the finest-looking cars on the road today, expressing individuality without dripping excess. Thanks to Ford's ownership of Jaguar, improved quality and reliability insures that these beautiful cars will spend more time on the road than they will in the shop. The fleet yet sumptuous XJR is still priced a bit dear compared to some less elegant luxury sport sedans, but how often do you lay your eyes on a car and find that no matter how hard you try not to, you keep looking?
