*** DOCUMENTED *** 1970 Olds 442 W30 Original, Never Restored, Factory Built W30 - Rock Solid Documentation! and Loaded With Original Factory Options! History and Documentation: Broadcast Card! This W30 comes with the ALL IMPORTANT original factory Broadcast Card. A seller can talk, make promises, give assurances, and even make guarantees that his car is a real W30; none of these things are worth a red cent when it comes to verifying a true factory built W30. The original Broadcast Card is absolutely critical in authenticating a true 1970 W30. Probably 90-95% of the 1970 442 "W30s" you see out there are either unverifiable, or they're outright fakes. This is one of the very few original, never restored and verifiable beyond a doubt, factory built 1970 442 W30s remaining. This car was originally sold new at O'Daniel Ranes Oldsmobile in Evansville, Indiana on November 1, 1969 to a man that lived in Evansville. I have the original Protect-O-Plate and the original filled out dealer to purchaser New Vehicle Warranty. The original owner eventually moved to Kentucky, taking the car with him and keeping it up untill at least 1984; I have the original owner's Commonwealth of Kentucky Certificate of Registration from 1984. At some point between 1984 and 1987 the car was sold to a new owner in Illinois, I have an original Illinois Reregistration application form from that owner from 1987. Drivetrain and Under the Hood: Numbers matching. The engine block is numbers matching. The car still has its original numbers matching OW W30 only automatic transmission, the original SF code 3.23 anti-spin rear end is still under the car as well. The original heads are missing, has Cs on it. Carburetor was replaced at some point with a 7041250. Radiator does not appear to be the original. You will see from the pictures that the intake manifold is not correct. The original aluminum W-455 intake came with the car when I got it, however it was cracked; I replaced it with an original iron intake off of one of my other 442s. The W30 automatic 1111797 distributor is still there, as are the W and Z exhaust manifolds. The OAI ram air system works perfectly. The red W30 inner fenders are the originals. I occasionally drive the car on nice days; it needs tires, but it runs and drives great while tracking smooth and straight down the road. Body: Never been restored! Mostly original paint. ALL body panels are original, NO replacements, NO patches found anywhere. As should be expected, after 42 years on the road there are of course dings and dents here and there. The floors are in excellent condition. The trunk floor is very nice, as are the trunk drop-offs and the rear inner wheelhouses. Both front fenders are the original flat-lip 1970 only fenders, and both doors and the deck lid are original to this car. The original factory OAI hood is damaged in the nose area. (see pictures) The black vinyl top is in excellent condition, no sign of any problems anywhere under it. Both sport mirrors are excellent. The bumpers are great candidates for rechroming. Other than the front hood trim, the 2 small front fender trim pieces, and the lf and rr wheel opening mouldings, all exterior trim is there and in very good condition. The glass is in remarkably nice condition. If you want to restore the car, the lower rear part of the fenders will need patches and the quarters will need repair behind the rear wheels and up along the wheel openings. This car does NOT need full quarters. This is a real survivor 1970 442 W30 that you can get in and drive right now. Nothing here is hidden or covered up by someone elses bodywork; if later on down the road you decide that you'd like to restore the car you know exactly what you have. Interior: The interior of this W30 is in nice condition. From the pictures you can see that the seat covers need to be replaced. The dash pad is perfect, the door panels and the headliner are very nice. The gauges are clear and bright. The center console is excellent and I have the key for it; it locks and unlocks perfectly. The lid does have a crack in it. No excessive wear on any of the interior controls or switches. Here is a list of what is not working on the car: passenger side power door lock, highest setting of fan speed, rear defroster fan, AC (switch and clutch appear to be working, I'm guessing it needs to be charged), and the radio. All of the lights work! The headlights, both low and high beam, directionals, parking lights, side markers, brake lights reverse lights, license plate light, dome light, floor courtesy lights, console light, glove box light, dash lights, all work! Remote trunk release in the glove box works. Steering column lock and start safety switch both work. To sum it up, with the exception of a few minor items and the AC, everything works. Options: This is a very highly optioned 1970 442 W30. The car was ordered in code 55 Galleon Gold with black stipes, black vinyl top, and a black interior. In addition to all standard 442 W30 equipement, this car was ordered and built with the following options: Power Steering, Power Disk Brakes, Power Door Locks, Air Conditioning, Bucket Seats, Console, Hurst Dual-Gate Shifter, Rally-Pac Gauges, Rear Window Defroster, Remote Trunk Release, Interior Hood Lock, AM Radio, 8-Tack Tape Player (missing), and SS1 Wheels. To Summerize: With a beautiful and unique new body design and refined interior styling, the 1970 Olds 442 was built for and marketed toward the upscale buyer of the day. When coupled with the high-performance W30 drivetrain option these wonderful cars had both the brute force low-end torque, and the high horsepower needed to succesfully compete on the street with the likes of LS6, GSX Stage 1, Ram Air III and IV, Cobra Jet, and Hemi. This particular rare 1970 Olds 442 W30 was built in the beautiful and classy color combination of Galleon Gold and Black. If you've ever seen this color combination when it's fresh, you know how much the black stripes, black top, and black interior really make this color pop. This highly optioned W30 has never been restored; it is one of the very few original survivors left that you can drive now, and if you want, restore later. Look at the other "W30s" that show up here on ebay and elsewhere for sale, contact the sellers of those cars and ask if they have factory documentation (the Broadcast Card) that authenticates their car as one of the few original 1970 W30s built by Oldsmobile. ALMOST ALL of them will say, "Uhhh..... no... but... (then the back-tracking, the stories, and the personal assurances begin)." None of that with this W30, it comes with bullet proof documentation; and at this price it won't break the bank either. You want an affordable, REAL 1970 442 W30? Here it is! You are certainly welcome and encouraged to come and see the car in person.
