Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1968 1200C ¾ ton (7300 GVW) International Truck: It has the stock 345 CI motor, T34 5 speed with overdrive (.83) tranny, Dana 60 (4.10) rear end. The tires are 750x16 bias ply on stock lock ring rims. Front tires are 50%, rear – 5000 miles. The hub caps are the hard to find originals. Odometer reads 105880. I was involved in the tractor restoration hobby and purchased the truck as an original New Mexico vehicle. Included are pictures of the truck before restoration showing the clean condition of this vehicle. I used it to transport my tractors to shows, parades, etc. It has made several 1000 mile trips without any problems. I wanted it to be a dependable hauler, which it is. It will cruise at Interstate speed with a loaded trailer effortlessly. That being said, this is what was done to the truck: The front clip and bed was removed. All sheet metal was cleaned, primed and painted, along with the frame. The inner front fenders were treated with bed liner. The motor and tranny were removed. The motor was inspected for wear, new gaskets and seals installed, and painted. New oil pump, fuel pump, rebuilt starter, carb. Fly wheel was turned, new clutch and pressure plate (12 inch). New clutch master and slave cylinder. Tranny was disassembled and inspected, new bearings, bushings and seals installed. Brakes were inspected for wear and all parts replaced. Power steering and power brakes were installed at this time. On inspection of the cowl area of the truck, it was discovered that it had the usual rust that is common to this area of International trucks. The interior was removed – all rust cut out and new metal welded in. The cowl was then treated with POR 15 products. The gas tanks (2) were removed, cleaned and treated with POR 15 products. New sending unit was installed. The truck was professionally painted with base coat – clear coat in the original color, Tahitian Yellow. It currently has Chevy Blazer seats and console in the cab. The original seat will come with the truck. The air conditioning unit is nonfunctional, it houses the speaker for the after market radio. The original radio is available. There is also an extra padded dash, sliding rear window, and other miscellaneous parts included. Now for the problems: As stated above, I used this truck to transport farm tractors. It has some chips in the paint and shows normal wear. There is a parking lot scratch on the lower passenger side front fender and it is showing some rust bubbles (see pics). The tail gate is showing stress cracks. At the last annual inspection, the mechanic noted that the king pins are showing wear and should be replaced. I have the king pins, but have not installed them. The steering seems to be looser than it was, so that probably is the problem. There is also a used steering box that is included. The reason I am selling the truck is that I am no longer involved in the tractor hobby and I do not need or use the truck anymore. New York State does not require a title for this year truck; it will come with a bill of sale and the signed current transferable registration. This vehicle is 43 years old and is sold as-is and where-is with no warranty or guarantee written, expressed or implied. High bidder is responsible for all shipping costs and all shipping arrangements. Non-refundable deposit required with in 48 hours. Vehicle must be 100% paid for with certified funds before it leaves the yard.
