Vehicle Detail
1984 Cadillac Seville This is a 1984 Cadillac Seville with the 4.1L V8 engine. the mileage on this car in around 71,000 all original miles. The car has a 4 speed automatic transmission and the trans. is going bad, transmission will not go into 4th gear and the reverse is non existent . I believe the problem is in relation to the torque converter but because of the tools needed to do the repair I am unable to fix the car myself and therefore must let it go. the car has brand new tires that have less than 3000 miles on them i have the receipt and additional records including the original shipping manifest that is placed on top of the gas tank during the assembly process and lists all the equipment optioned in this specific vehicle during it build. Car runs very quietly and smoothly. does not have any overheating issues oil in the engine is clean Mobil 5000. In addition to the items description above I have decided to sell the car with to custom options I was going to undo before delivery to the winning bidder. these options include as follows: A custom rear air suspension convertion was done using Air Ride Technologies brand Air springs . and I also have thrown in a set of matching luggage in the trunk. On Oct-29-11 at 04:26:41 PDT, seller added the following information: In this auction is a low milage diamond in the rough 1984 Cadillac Seville, complete with custom conversion rear air suspension equipped by Air Ride Technologies, a fully factory option matching color carpeted trunk compartment containing a bonus added set of matching color JC penny brand luggage and a custom installed factory optioned gas door locking system. This car was purchased by me during the later part of 2010, after having personally witnessed ( for several years) the slow deterioration of the exterior paint whilst resting in an older gentleman driveway under a large tree. The cars interior remained a great deal undistressed by the many sunny and heat soaked Mississippi days; by same said tree that slowly applied its own artistic touch of rust brown to the roof of this once two-tone Cadillac. The milage displayed on the odometer (71555) is accurate and quite reasonably so considering the two notorious mechanical problems that have historically plagued this beautifully designed bustle- back model Seville. These two mechanical problems include: 1. The 80's technological design disaster that is it's under-powered, over-worked 4.1 liter V8 engine of which its block is constructed of aluminium and its cylinder heads of cast iron. This problematic combination in said orientation gave way to countless head gasket failures at an average mileage indication of about 100,000 miles on many other Cadillacs of the same equipment and therefore was deemed unreliable unless great care and attention were given to the engines health.2. A redesigned and therefore significantly weaker 3 speed transmission was transformed into a disaster of a 4 speed transmission that once again required a meticulous care and prevention schedule to elude failure before 100,000 miles. To the disappointment of the previous owner, it was the transmission that rendered this beautiful luxury sedan emobile for all those years. That said I purchased the car with the understanding that the fourth gear would render the cars transmission and ultimately engine heat bathed and strained if driven for any duration of time at a speed of 45 mph or greater. In addition the transmission at times might not carry its own weigh ( PUN INTENDED) while trying to motivate the great sedan in reverse; leaving me to recapture and illustrate a Flintstone moment or two.... without warning. As I had a second form of transportation (1971 Cadillac Coupe' Deville), I was confident that I would have plenty of time to polish up this once dazzling jem of a car as well as add a few modern touches that would tastefully inhance the appeal of this 1980's luxury tech powerhouse. With countless hours of planning research and application, I was able to seamlessly integrate a remote starting system, a CD DVD player, new Infinity stereo speakers a gas tank door locking system, a matching set of luggage, Homelink overhead garage door unit and a fully automatic custom application rear air spring (coil springs removed) air suspension with parts purchased from Ride Tech. and integrated with the factory air compressor and ride height systems for a seamless automatic application with far superior ride and handling to that of the original equipment. Once I had completed these projects, I embarked on the staging of the rehabilitation of the transmission. Unfortunatley after exhaustingly planning and replaning a way to extract the massive front wheel drive transmission, I cmae to the conclusion that the task is far greater than the toolsets in which I am equipped inaddition to the unavailablity of the additional manpower needed to complete the task. So with great sorrow I have placed this car on eBay, admittiedly quite half hearted at first, but have revised the listing comforted by the fact that there may possibly be a bidder that can finish and enjoy what I started. So having covered some of the history I know of this car, let the bidding begin beacuse after all,...... BEST OF ALL IT'S A CADILLAC!!! HAPPY BIDDING!!!
