Vehicle Detail
1939 Buick series 40 convertible needing complete restoration. Mostly complete but apart. Rolling chassis with some interior, dash, top bows loosely attached front end. Some bodywork done, mainly sandblasted or bead blasted sheet metal. Front end is very nice. Some chassis parts blasted and painted. Straight eight engine out, no transmission. Most suspension and rear installed. For the knowledgable collector/restorer or dare i suggest someone who wants an interesting street rod. There are some spare parts including a extra block, head, crank, radio, some trim grille, headlight pod. It has stream boards and skirts, 2 radios, extra instrument cluster . Most interior parts some with upholstery some bare. Rusty floors and rockers but doors open and close. Trunk pretty complete, top bows intact but some bad wood. Some good glass, one windshield is cracked. Missing front bumper and some engine parts like charging system, headlights. I have already located reasonably priced parts to make the car complete, i may acquire some of these before the car sells. Car rolls and believe it or not was stored indoors up until this past spring. Car was a driver when parked in the seventies, then disassembled for restoration and the owner gave up. Frame appears solid but i am hoping someone will come see it before purchase. i will be happy to answer questions and crawl around the car to find out what you need to know that i havent provided here. reasonable reserve. I am advertising the car locally and reserve the right to sell and terminate the listing. Because it is in parts i am reluctant to ship overseas and buyer will be responsible for shipping. On Nov-02-11 at 08:47:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to all for the interesting questions and comments. Some are too long or too strange to post below, but i answer each and everyone of them within hours. With over 700 views and 88 watchers after two days i am encouraged by the attention this car is getting. This is the series 40 with the shorter front end and wheelbase. The picture of the flywheel cover has it sitting on a 26 dodge pick up chassis. This dodge is not for sale. I am still trying to locate parts but what you see is what you get except for a box that has misc smaller parts including a steering wheel. At this time i am not selling the extra parts. If i negotiate sales price after the auction and the buyer does not need them, then yes the extra grilles, both narrow and wide spacing, the radio, the gauges, extra moldings may be available. Patience please. I was so proud of my " reasonable " reserve i did not consider many of you are hoping this is a 1500 dollar car. I dont think so .. By reasonable i was implying it is not a six or seven thousand dollar reserve. Time will tell. I have clear title that matches the chassis number, not the engine as many of these did. Yay for that. The car is near the Pennsylvania turnpike in the outskirts of PHila. Pa. Good luck bidding, i will update this as needed.
