Vehicle Detail
What you are looking at here is an old pickup with lots of potential! My son rescued it from an abandoned garage about three years ago and towed it home. At that point it didn't run, had a rusted out short stepside bed on it, and needed lots of TLC. We spent the next couple of months making it roadworthy. This process included a new clutch and pressure plate, lots of new pieces in the hydraulic braking system, new wheels and tires etc. A new fuel tank and sending unit were also installed. After all of these additions, we got the old girl to leave her slumber and fire up. Shes a 292 six cylinder with a four speed manual trans. First gear is a "Stump puller" gear that makes this truck good for pulling or pushing just about anything. The transfer case on the truck leaks, probably from sitting for so long, but it works, Frame is a true 4WD frame with leaf springs on all four corners, which I believe makes her a 3/4 ton. My son drove the vehicle for about six months before he went off to school and then parked it again. The floorboards on the truck are solid, save for one small hole right at the base of the accelerator, and the front end is solid but dinged up. Currently, the turn signal switch needs replacing after shorting out (About $45 from various suppliers) so not all lights are working as intended, but it wouldn't take much to get them going. Exhaust consists of a short pipe with a Cherry Bomb, so you can hear her coming! She runs, drives and oozes character. Either drive it as is, or restore it and have a truck worth well into five figures. I get lots of people asking to know if they can drive the vehicle home, no matter how far away home is. The answer is I don't know! The vehicle seems to run fine, but its 43 years old! I can't guarantee how far it will go before an issue appears. Might be 100 yards, might be 10,000 miles. I have no way of knowing. That's the most honest answer I can give you. Unless you live fairly close, I would plan on shipping the vehicle. If you want an adventure, you are on your own! The old girl probably hasn't had an alignment since Nixon was President, so don't expect to hop on the e-way and drive 80 mph! If you are interested in bidding on the truck, please be ready, willing and able to follow through if you are the eventual winner. Don't tell me your life changed overnight, you found a better one yesterday or any of the other several lame excuses I have heard in the last couple of months. I'm really tired of dealing with deadbeats. I have been as honest as I know how to be describing the vehicle, I expect the same from you. Thanks for looking! A date with a sandblaster should make it look like new. Notice this truck also has leaf springs on all four corners. On Sep-08-11 at 06:47:27 PDT, seller added the following information:
