Vehicle Detail
1969 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Full Payment and Pickup Within Fourteen (14) Days of Auction Close - take the extra time to gather funds! Cash Preferred.. Good project car - runs and drives - (obviously) needs work. Good for hoodie, rat rod, parts, resto, whatever. Has some good stuff on it (all glass, lenses, mirrors) and could be on the road with new brakes. Original Volkswagen VIN #169041647 - Also has State of Delaware assigned VIN stamped inside door. I had to run the vehicle through the auto theft unit w/ state police, that's why I have it listed as a reconstructed title. Bottom line = the tags are clean, but I didn't want someone to call BS if I posted it as a regular title... Nothing to hide on this beauty! The photos pretty much tell it all. The car drives, but the brakes are bad - car will need to be towed. [10/19 The vehicle is not tagged - the title is good but the car needs a safety inspection to be tagged in Delaware. Therefore it should not be driven anywhere.] I have a tow bar I'll sell for $50 to the winner (if desired). Flat towing is not an issue with the tow bar - easy [and light!]. Delivery within New Castle County, DE possible/negotiable. Kept dry for two years +. I tinkered with it very little over two years and am starting the bid (I hope) low enough to make space in my garage! I'm not interested in parting it out either - at least not now. Thanks!TIRES/WHEELS: New tires on repainted (black rims). Includes all four original caps and trim rings. NO spare.BRAKES: No (very little) braking power. I have not assessed the brakes thoroughly - they need to be replaced. CHROME: Bumpers in fair shape - rear bumper missing a bolt or two; a little shaky. No deck latch, no emblem on lid. Driver's mirror, rear view OK. Some chrome "stripes" still in OK shape.DOOR HARDWARE: Driver's door window is stuck down - I can get it up, but then it is stuck up. Hard to explain, but it needs to be taken apart. Pass side works well. No interior panels. Locks work on both sides; good working handles on both doors. Driver's door sags ever-so slightly - no problem latching; pass door solid on hinges. Both close and latch just fine. Luggage area (FRONT) latches fine and lever (inside glove box) works. Deck lid (REAR) no latch - hinges work well; I haven't tried the license plate lamp. WINDOWS: All glass in good shape. I have a pair of extra backseat windows from a yard sale. The hinges in back work fine. No leaks. Possibly orignal glass - I can add photos if wanted. ENGINE: The engine starts and runs. I have driven it around the block; no farther. TRANS: Shifts thru all four fine - I haven't "opened it up" by any means... Appears to work just fine. ELECTRONICS: The green and red lights on the dash work; the horn, lights, wipers, signals are all iffy; I never got that far with this car, sadly. You'll need a multimeter and a box of fuses, that's for sure. EXHAUST: Muffler needs replacement. Headers should be useable. BODY/FRAME/FLOOR: Cracks in the floor, channels rusty, area under nose (spare tire) rusted out. Not great, but I've certainly seen worse. See pics for condition - feel free to ask questions. BATTERY: Included - may need to be replaced (I keep it on a trickle charger). ODOMETER: Reads "02325" Locks work, key(s) work.Email with any questions - you can come see the vehicle if you'd like in Wilm, DE. (Prices Corner)I need the space to work on my '62 beetle (my baby); help me out and bid with confidence! Here is your chance to own a GHIA! $200 PayPal Deposit Required Within 24 Hours. Full Payment Within Fourteen (14) Days of Auction Close. Cash Preferred. Please ask questions and look at the photos carefully. Video can be made upon request. Thanks! - volksvagen62On Oct-23-11 at 07:04:48 PDT, seller added the following information: October 23, 2011 10h00 EST (Sunday) I have requests from potential bidders who would like to come look at the car. As stated, the car may be viewed in person, but (now) unfortunately time is limited. My schedule allows me to be available Monday and Tuesday evening of this week (October 24 and October 25, 2011), from approximately 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm (EST). If interested, email me for more info and location.*NO side offers - all bids thru this auction. Auction will NOT be terminated early or extended for any offers made in-person. Highest bidder to pay $200 PayPal within 24-hours, and pick-up within 14 days of auction end (with CLEAR payment). OTHER: - I do have the rear cushion and it is in OK shape. I noticed it missing from most of the photos (to show the floor/hump). It can be seen (in-place) in one of the photos (behind the front seats). You can also see it leaning against my boat in the last photo. - On June 6, 2011 (date on the title) I took my project to be "blessed" by the Delaware State Police/Department of Motor Vehicle and they wanted to place another "official" VIN (one that is easy to locate) inside door panel. They also gave me a U-title (as an unregistered vehicle; U724783). The U-title proves ownership of the vehicle but implies no registration; therefore the vehicle cannot carry typical car insurance and is not insured for road use. Therefore... I can't let someone drive this car away - the ability to tow this car from my home is a must. Thanks for understanding. Email me with questions - GOOD LUCK! I may post a couple more photos today (Sunday 10/23) - if anyone has requests let me know soon... thanks!
