Up for your consideration is a 1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. The Bugeye Sprite was Designed by Donald Healey Motor Co. and built by Austin from 1958 -1961. It was designed as a budget sports car but had good performance for its size,with endering and cheeky looks.In England it was known as the Frogeye. It is very affordable to run and easy and cheap to maintain and great fun to drive. This car has been properly and correctly restored as a drivers car.It has an uprated 1275 cc engine to give more power, front disc brakes and Speedwell rear springs to make it a lot more fun to drive than when it left the factory. BODY AND CHASSIS - Finished in IRIS BLUE the complete body and all the panels were stripped to bare metal.The car required minimum body work.When the bodywork was completed the complete body and panels were epoxy primed.The body was then painted underneath,the engine bay and the whole interior with acrylic enamel top coat paint .The exterior body,hood and doors were then block sanded for flatness and reprimed,they were then finish sanded and painted with single stage acrylic enamel.The whole exterior body was then color sanded ,power buffed and polished to obtain a show quality paint finish. MECHANICS - Engine .The car is fitted with a 1275 cc engine that was completely rebuilt.Rebored and fitted with new pistons.The cylinder head was bebuilt and fitted with a new rocker shaft.The engine maintains a steady 60lb oil pressure at running temperature.All the ancillaries on the engine are new or rebuilt. New Dynamo ,Rebuilt Starter ,Rebuilt Distributor ,New Rev counter Drive, Uprated Late model Oil Filter. The Twin SU carbs have been completely rebuilt with Master rebuild kits. TRANSMISSION - The low milage Rib Case transmission only needed new seals and it was fine. SUSPENSION - Has new king pins and bushes,rebuilt shock absorbers front and back,and all new bushes front and back.I have fitted late model Disc Brakes to the front.All new brake ,lines,rotors,pads,drums,linings,cylinders and all new wheel bearings. FITTED new Wiring loom,Lights,Switches,Heater Blower Motor,Coil ,Re Cored Radiator,Hoses,Ducting for Heater,Bebuilt Heater Core. All parts re chromed , all new rubber kit,All the original hardware was retained and replated to original specs. UPHOLSTERY - All new seat panel and carpet kits expertly fitted to provide comfortable seats and interior.Trunk lining kit fitted.The original sidescreens are rebuilt.The car is supplied with a good fitting black vinyl soft top. The is fitted with 4( four ) Minilight style wheels fitted with Pirelli P 400 tires.The spare is a standard wheel.
