This is a 1985 Corniche DHC(Convertible). It is one of the most beautiful Motorcars that we have ever offered, and a wonderful opportunity to own a very desirable, low mileage example that you will be Proud of. This one is quite Elegant, especially with the Exquisite Georgian Silver Coachwork and Gray Hood colour scheme.....very unique, and absolutely Magnificent. I think it is quite striking!!! This Beautiful Corniche has only traveled 48,000 miles since new, which is less than 2000 miles per year....low low miles for any pre-owned car. As some of you know(and the rest of you should), this is a Mineral Fluid Car....VERY NOTEWORTHY!!! This means that it has the mineral braking system, and updated suspension that was fitted to the Mulsanne/Spirit/Spurs in 1981(also referred to as "SZ" Cars), and remained, right up to the 1999 models. Much more serviceable than the early, Maintenance Intensive RR 363 systems, and basically trouble free. In 1972 the Bentley T/Silver Shadow Coupe(FHC), and Convertible(DHC) were re-named "Corniche". These special cars are called "Coachbuilt", and were created at H.J. Mulliner Park Ward, an entirely different factory than the Saloons. Some assembly was done at Crewe, but most of the work commenced at HJM/PW. Whilst all Bentleys and Rolls Royces are built entirely by hand, the Corniche is quite special, and built in extremely limited quantities. I'm told it takes 6 weeks to create, and assemble the convertible top!!! One look, and you will know exactly what I mean. It is said to be "The world's 'Most Desired' open tourer"!!! I have a 1986, that I have owned for 5 years. I consider it an extension of my personality, and hopefully will have it "forever"!!! Please keep in mind that this is a 26 year old Rolls Royce that is not "flawless" or "mint". This is a WONDERFUL Corniche Convertible, that looks, runs and drives beautifully. I have driven it several hundred miles and it has been a pleasure. The 6.75 litre light alloy V8 runs great and the Automatic transmission still shifts ever so smoothly. It stands tall and proud and will give years of pleasure to the lucky winning bidder. I will do the best that I can to describe it's actual condition. The exterior colour is called Georgian Silver. The paint is in excellent condition considering this is an almost 27 year-old car. It is bright and shiny, and makes a Lovely appearance. There are a few very small nicks here and there, and some Lacquer "Checking" in some areas that you really have to look for, due to the light color. This is VERY common on older Rolls Royce's(because the paint is so thick!!), and certainly lends to it's "Originality". Being almost 25 years old I am sure that there has been some paintwork done here and there. As you can see in the photos it is just magnificent. The Gray Everflex convertible top(known as the "hood") appears to be original also, and is in beautiful condition. The rear plastic window is also nice, as well, and is very clear. The chrome and brightwork are just gorgeous and are also in excellent condition. The unique Rolls Royce Radiator Grille(which, by the way is made entirely by hand) is just Breathtaking!!! The "Spirit Of Ecstasy" stands Tall and Proud, and is just beautiful. This Corniche Convertible has no visible signs of any rust or weather damage. Apparently it was garaged, and pampered all of it's life. The interior is Gray Leather Piped Same with Light Gray Carpets bound Gray. The top roll, instrument board roll, under-dash trim, and radio surround are also covered in Gray leather. It has Sundym glass throughout, and a Gray headlining, which has some fading that can be seen in the detailed Pics below. The leather is in Beautiful condition, and has been recently dyed to "Freshen" it's appearance. The famous hand polished and finished veneers on the Facia are quite lovely. The waist rails have recently been refinished and look fantastic! There are DETAILED photos below. As one would expect, The "Best Car in the World" is equipped with Split Level Climate Control that keeps the lavishly appointed interior cool in the summer, and toasty warm, when necessary. The window lifts and seats are electric and work just fine, although typically a bit sluggish on the way up. The Delco sound system is original and works just great. Even the Cruise Control works as designed, which is a testament to this car's provenance....Cruise hardly EVER works on these cars!!! I have been test driving this Wonderful Corniche Convertible, and have put a few hundred miles on it. As one would expect, it is a pleasure, quite smooth and quiet. The radial tyres are brand new, and just add to the already fabulous and unique Rolls Royce feel. We have just had the oil and filter changed(Castrol GTX 20/50 of course) and performed a safety inspection. We have also JUST installed new brake spheres, and a rebuilt A/C Compressor. System now runs 134A. It has been fully detailed and is ready for your excitement. Unfortunately there are no books and manuals. There are no service records. The large and small tools are present, along with the Convertible top boot. This Corniche has a clean Pennsylvania title, that reads exempt(over ten years old) for miles. This is a very rare opportunity to own one of the most unique, and finest driving Luxury Convertibles available in the world.
