1971 Volvo 1800 E California Car Blue License Plates This is a rare Volvo 1800 E coupe with fuel injection. It is a great candidate for a restoration. It runs and drives fine and has great Volvo/Jensen styling. It gets attention everywhere it goes! Vehicle Description: Standard equipment on this Volvo included: Aluminum Alloy Wheels 2.0 Liter Engine with Fuel Injection Air Conditioning (extremely rare) Reclining Leather Bucket Seats Power Assisted Four-wheel Disc Brakes Electric Rear Defrost Deluxe Trim & Carpet with Locking Console Exterior/Interior/Mechanical Condition: The original color was the highly desirable gold metallic color #105, unfortunately it was repainted white. It is not a very nice repaint. The original spot welds are still visible in several locations along with the VIN# on the body behind front nose near the hood (this is important to note as if it were ever wrecked in the front this would not be present). The body side moldings were removed and I do not have them. These cars were notorious for rust especially in the lower rockers and lower front fenders and it is quite rare to find one without any. Both lower fender areas may need to be replaced (they are available for around $65 each). There is also some rust in the trunk floor. If you need any additional info on any of the rust areas please contact me. In my opinion it is not major and very typical for these cars. All dash gauges work except the clock. There is an aftermarket radio. The upper and lower dash pads should be recovered with a dash cap. The drivers door panel went missing along with the mirror and drivers sun visor. The carpets are in nice condition. The headliner is in okay condition. It also has the original Volvo under dash a/c which is very rare and highly desirable. It does not work. This vehicle runs and drives. It is a little cold blooded. Like most cars of this age, it does leave a few drops of oil on the ground. Volvo purists know these cars run for a long time. Most Volvo aficionados are also aware of a similar 1800 (a 1966 Volvo 1800S on the East Coast) that has been driven for almost 3 million miles! It is not uncommon to find these with high miles and still going. Other info to know about this vehicle and this auction Please keep in mind this is a 40+ year old collector car. I am not going to say it does not need anything; as I am not an expert and everyone is subject to their opinion and level of perfection. It does have your typical wear and tear for a car of this age. It does need a few things as I mentioned. I am not a mechanical expert and I have described it to the best of my knowledge. It also still has California blue license plates, commonly referred to in the car collector world as a “CA Blue Plate Car.“ This is a very desirable distinction. California vehicles retain the original license plates as long as they remain registered in California. This is an important distinction as CA blue plates cannot be put back on the car if it was registered somewhere else. It is on a clean California title in my name. About the P 1800 and the Saint: This was Volvo’s first sports car in 1961. The later ones are even more desirable as they introduced fuel injection and 4 wheel disc brakes in 1970. This one has both of these highly desirable features. There were only 1,865 Volvo 1800 E’s produced in 1971 making this a fairly rare car. This vehicle became very well known in the same exterior color and was driven by Simon Templar played by Roger Moore and featured in the TV series The Saint beginning in 1962.
