Vehicle Detail
Okay, this is just the cutest little car. Back in the 1980's, these Buick Skylarks were just everywhere. The small little FWD sedan with the boxy styling of the bigger Buick was just the rage, much like the music of Sheena Easton. The little limousine, they called it. And millions of people drove it to the "Morning Train," so to speak. (No comment about "Sugar Walls"- never my favorite.) But like Sheena, these Skylarks have all but vanished. In fact, it's rare to see one at all these days, let alone one as nice and loaded with options as this one is.Take a look at all the goodies: Skylark Limited Sedan2.8 Litre V-6 engineAutomatic TransmissionAir Conditioning (Working)Bucket Seats with Console and Floor ShiftPower steering and brakesPower WindowsPower Locks6 way Power Driver's Bucket SeatReclining SeatsRemote MirrorsFront and Rear Floor MatsAM/FM Stereo Radio with Digital ClockGauge package including volts, temp, and fuel gaugesBumper Rub StripsBumper GuardsFull Vinyl RoofDeluxe wire wheel coversWSW Radial TiresBody Side protective Moldings (Dealer Equipment)All the moldings you can imagine including windsplit, window surround, lower body sill, and wheel opening. And I've probably missed a thing or two, but you get the idea. It's bursting with options. I mean, really, how many do you see with buckets and a floor shifter? What's it like? It's a sweet little Skylark, kept in a little old lady's garage or my carport for pretty much it's entire existence. It's finished in the very popular Light Briar with a Dark Briar Top and Interior (and striping, and moldings, and floor mats, and and and...) The paint is a mixture of original and refinished but the color match is excellent. The rear deck lid shows some dryness and there is a small owie on the lower front passenger door, but the overall effect of the car is very nice and well kept. They won't usher you onto the field at Pebble beach, but the car is tidy and well kept and nicer than 95% of those that remain. There is not one speck of rust. Not one. (I wish they all could be California cars...)The vinyl top is original with some weathering, but shines up quite well. There's like one or two door dings per side. The rear bumper filler plastic is missing (but hard to tell.) The wire wheels were a little scuffed, so I found a set of 4 NOS ones. They look great. The whitewall radials are new with about 500 miles on them. Interior is pretty close to new. Great seats (miniscule wear on outboard edge of driver's seat, nowhere else), excellent door panels. NO dash cracks and NO falling headliner. The carpet is a bit discolored (GM dyes aren't always stable) but the overall interior looks great. Foam in the seats appears excellent- and it even comes with the little old lady's back pillow, in matching fabric. How funny is that? So overall, its not a show car but a very nice and well kept car with an awesome interior and not a speck of rust anywhere. The car does get thumbs up from the locals, and most recently got mistaken for a Cadillac. Not sure how to take that. Of course, I can't show you everything in 24 pictures, so for over 80 digital pictures, click on this PHOTO LINK Starts easily and idles smoothly. The little 2.8 six is as smooth as glass. Transmission shifts snappily as designed. Torque converter locks at highway speed (and solenoid has been replaced so it unlocks as well) Ride is smooth and handles well. Tires have about 500 miles on them, shocks and struts were replaced a couple thousand miles back. (They were original!) Radiator and hoses two years ago, along with hoses and belts (probably 2,000 miles)/ A/C is working and holds refrigerant. Presently on Freeze-12. We're hoping to find a Buick enthusiast to give the little limousine a good home. I've used it as my desert car for the last three years and find it to be a great little run around car- extremely reliable - and it's perfectly happy on freeway runs to the O.C. Has always passed smog and has original "California Sun" plates with current CA registration until January. (Also note that original license frame from Steffy Buick in Anaheim.) Clear CA title and clean Carfax history. The reserve is extremely reasonable and represents roughly what we've spent on maintenance. We are very close to the DAS Terminal in Cathedral City, CA and can drop the car off there for the buyer. Port delivery for a European Buyer will run approximately $150. Please feel free to ask any questions prior to bidding. remember that your bid is a commitment to purchase. Sheena Easton is optional at extra cost. Please email any questions you may have.
