Vehicle Detail
This is my 1954 DeSoto Firedome sedan which I'm selling with no reserve. The "Firedome" name indicates the Hemi engine- this is the original application of Chrysler's first-generation "Hemi" V8. This car was originally purchased and kept in Sacramento, California since new. The car has never seen snow, ice or salt since it was manufactured. The car came here to Cleveland, OH about a year ago and has been kept in heated storage and driven occasionally. This is an all-original car, with the original Hemi V8 engine and automatic transmission. The California owners added a A/C system which works great. The system is about 10-15 years old and it has its own 12V alternator and battery to power the system. The A/C blows ice-cold and will keep the car cool on even the hottest day. The car has absolutely NO RUST or rot, since it has been a CA car since it was new. This is absolutely as rust-free as a 1954 car could possibly be. The paint is an older repaint that is still very presentable. It has some checking (sun wear) on the horizontal surfaces like the hood, tops of fenders, etc, but the paint looks very nice overall. The tires are reproduction whitewalls in good condition with good tread. The engine runs beautifully- it is smooth, quiet and powerful. The carburetor has just been professionally rebuilt and a small electric fuel pump was added to help the original mechanical fuel pump on startup. The transmission shifts great, and brakes, steering and suspension are in good condition. This car is tight, quiet and drives great. There are a few minor fluid leaks. There is no reason you couldn't drive this car anywhere you wanted- it is reliable and runs great. It is still a 6V electrical system, everything electrical including all the guages works great. The interior of the car is correct NOS seats, upholstery and carpet which is in oustanding condition. The headliner is original. The original AM radio works. This is a beautiful 15-foot car. That is, from 15 feet, this car looks flawless. When you get close up, you can see minor imperfections in the paint, chrome, etc. The stainless trim is excellent, the chrome is a bit thin but still looks decent. The car comes with the old blue California plates (not pictured) and an ancient blue California Highway Patrol Inspection sticker on windshield. The rear tail lights are broken. I did this- I accidently backed into a wooden shelf. Replacement NOS tail lights are still available. This car has a clean clear OH title that reads ACTUAL miles. This car is stored in my building in Willoughby, OH. If you have any questions, or you would like to see the car, please email me or call/text me at 440 339 4341.
