1988 R100RS Pearl white with blue accents. I bought this bike in the winter of 2008, it had been sitting for a while, and needed some service and clean up. The bike was supposedly owned by a older gentleman from the Nashville area and had passed away a few years before it came up for sale at a bike dealer in Ohio. One of the employees of the dealer was an aquaintance of the the gentlemans son. I am the second owner according to the story told to me by the folks at the bike dealer. The bike was missing the left side cover, and had a small rash on the right side of the fairing along the edge. I had a side cover painted to match (close but not exact) and the blue decal custom made to match. The fairing was touched up- it is noticable if you look closely. There is a spot where the clear coat has come up and taken the pin stripe with it on the left upper fairing next to the turn signal. When I bought the bike, The dealer certified the odometer as correct. It has stopped working properly, I assume the bike has several thousand miles more than it shows. This bike was a second bike for me, I also owned a K1200GT and a R1150 GS while owning this bike. Actual mileage is not known.I had a 78 RS years ago, always liked them, and bought this one for casual riding. Spring of 2009, the bike received a complete major service including transmission spline clean and lube. At that time, the follwing services and parts were performed or replaced: Gas tank cleaned / petcocks cleaned New battery Carburetors rebuilt including floats New plug wires New ignition coil New wiring harness Luggage was added- the side cases do NOT lock- the top case DOES LOCK- these items were bought off the "net" Tires are Pirelli- fair to good THE DEFECTS: right edge of fairing SEE PIC pin stripe SEE PIC small scuff on tail SEE PIC small hole in seat cover- bungee cord accident? SEE PICS boots on forks are getting a bit tattered The bike starts and runs just fine, the carbs are out of synch and need tuning, in my opinion The bike has bar risers and bar backs installed Overall, the bike is clean, very nice looking, gets comments wherever it goes. All lights and guages work, the odometer is irratic, the clock keeps good time this spring I changed the engine oil myself, all other fluids were checked. Have several shop manuals for this bike, will go with the motorcycle I am ending my riding career, due to hand and wrist issues, the bike currently gets monthly exercise for about 30 minutes to an hour or so. no leaks BUY IT NOW WILL INCLUDE A BMW OEM TANKBAG FOR THIS BIKE
