Vehicle Detail

Hello – This auction is for a 1974 Plymouth Duster which has been modified to appear like a 1971 Duster 340. Every aspect of this car has been cleaned, painted or restored. It now performs far better than any stock Duster 340. The car started out as a “Gold Duster” model, which was little more than stripes, a half vinyl top and deluxe hubcaps. It had a Slant Six and an automatic transmission plus power steering and disc brakes. Here is a breakdown of all the details of this great car. Body & Paint: The car has spent its entire life in California. It has no rust anywhere and had never been wrecked. I preferred the look of the ’71 Duster 340 cars, so I set out to build the car to match. I sectioned the taillight panel with a 1970 Duster panel, then changed the hood, grille and front bumper. All other panels are rust free, original 1974 pieces. I repainted it the original col0r, B-5 Blue using Omni basecoat/clear coat. The blackout paint was created using PPG basecoat and matte clear. I added dual sport mirrors, matte black side stripes, hood pins with lanyards and the twin snorkel hood scoop. New side markers. New AMD 1970 style rear bumper. New trunk lock, door locks. New windshield, new trunk weather strips. The car looks as good in person as it does in pictures. Engine: 1979 360 4 barrel, 1200 miles since the rebuild. Bored .030 over and fitted with Speed Pro hypereutectic pistons and Moly rings. Heads rebuilt and milled .020 for a final compression ratio of 9.1 to one. Mopar Performance 292.508 hydraulic camshaft installed straight up. Edelbrock timing set, Milodon stock type 5 quart oil pan. Edelbrock Victor 340 intake manifold, Holley 750 vacuum secondary carburetor, MP cast aluminum valve covers and air cleaner. TTI 1 5/8” ceramic coated headers with 2 1/2” exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. Factory electronic ignition. New fuel pump, water pump, alternator and volt regulator. New battery and starter relay. 26 inch radiator with shroud, new fan clutch. MP mini starter. Schumacher poly engine mounts on a stock type V8 K-frame. New 3/8” fuel line, new 3/8” fuel sending unit. Trans & Clutch: Stock aluminum bell housing with new balanced 360 flywheel. Ram dual friction Borg & Beck clutch. 1974 model 833 4 speed with iron case, rebuilt with new synchros, bearings and gaskets. HD trans mount. New Hurst shifter and linkage. Trans shifts firm and positive. Clutch is firm but not overly stiff. Driveshaft was balanced and has new u-joints. Suspension, Brakes & Steering: Front suspension is fully rebuilt with new upper & lower control arm bushings, inner & outer tie rod ends and strut rod bushings. New .920 MP torsion bars. Addco 1 1/8” sway bar, HD shocks. Boxed lower control arms. 3”x3” subrame connectors welded in place. Police car 11” disc rotors with new calipers and pads. New brake master cylinder. Police “firm feel” power steering gearbox. Rear suspension consists of stock V8 leaf springs, HD shocks and an Addco ¾” sway bar. 10” drum brakes fully rebuilt. Rear axle is an 8 ¾ unit from a 1968 Coronet. The spring perches were relocated to fit. New tapered axle bearings. ‘489 3rd member with 3.55 gears. It has a clutch type Sure Grip differential that was rebuilt to factory specs. Wheels & Tires: Front wheels are stock Chrysler 15 x 6 ½ Rally wheels with BF Goodrich radial T/A 235-60-15. Rear wheels are from Wheel Vintiques, 15 x 8 with BF Goodrich 255-60-15 tires. 1971 style “Sombrero” center caps. Interior: New carpet, headliner and package tray. Bucket seats are from an ’86 Camaro. Reupholstered to appear like a factory design. Rear seats were also reupholstered to match. Front seats recline. Tilt steering column from a ’78 Cordoba. Grant steering wheel. Deluxe door & kick panels with wood grain inserts. Dash pad is unwarped and looks nice but does have a few small cracks. They have not spread in 3 years. I ran wiring for stereo speakers under the carpet. There is no radio or speakers, but an antenna is in place. Hurst ball shifter knob, factory A/T center console modified for 4-speed. This car starts quickly and idles with a nice lope. Plenty of power in any gear. It runs great on mid-grade unleaded. It has never overheated or left me stranded. It handles great and has excellent road manners. I built it for myself and never intended to sell, but priorities have changed. Please contact me for additional pictures. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO BUY! ***WINNING BIDDER WILL PAY A NON-REFUNADLBE AMOUNT OF $500 WITHIN 48 HRS AND FINAL PAYMENT DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION. BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR ARRANGING SHIPPING AND FOR ALL SHIPPING COSTS. NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS. NO WARRANTY IS EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. AS IS - NO WARRANTY
