Vehicle Detail

I have owned this beautiful Corvette since August, 1999. After spending many months looking for just the right car, I found this one in Seattle and purchased it from the person who had owned it for the first 26 years. Below is a statement from him: I bought this 1973 Corvette in early 1974. The car has always been in Seattle, Washington and always garaged. The car has never been wrecked or abused. This '73 Corvette has 59,500 Original miles! It has the ORIGINAL Dark Metallic Blue paint in near mint condition - only flaws are a couple of small scratches on the driver's door, a 1" scratch on the right side quarter panel, and a 6" section on the tip of the "tail" that was slilghtly ground off, but has been touched up and is hardly noticable now - and some other tiny chips on the front and at the rear wheel wells. The interior is black and all original, including the carpets, showing little wear at all. This is a T-Top car with the Original T-Tops and the Original T-Top bags (into which T-Tops are placed when off the car). The car has the Original 350 Engine (matching numbers), 4-speed transmission, and rear end; the only thing that is missing is the emission system (air pump). The car starts right up and runs smoothly. The only options are Power Steering, Power Brakes, and the Original AM-FM radio. All guages work, even the clock! The car has the original license plates, both sets of original keys, the original shock absorbers, and all original glass. The original tires were Firestone 500 radials, which were recalled by Firestone in 1979. They were replaced with Firestone SS Radial white letter tires, which are still like new. I have a complete file on the car showing receipts for all work done, including receipts for the recalled tires. The original Owners manual is in the glovebox along with the original jack and wrench. This car has never been smoked in, never been in the snow, and almost never in the rain. No rust. This car is an Original survivor. No dissapointments here. Most of the above statement remains true today. In the 12+ years I've owned the car I have put roughly 8,000 miles on it; the car now has 67,500 miles as shown in one of the pictures. The paint still has never been touched and there are no significant new scratches other than described above, though the front bumper now shows cracking (as pictured). The interior door panel cracking shown in pictures was present when I bought the car and has gotten no worse. I've never looked into repairing or replacing. The clock now works intermittantly. Regarding the missing air pump, this has never been an issue as the car is smog-exempt in California. I imagine the engine runs better without the air pump anyway. As an owner, I have invested in the following: new radiator, clutch, tune-up (points, plugs, etc.), valve cover gaskets, hoses, brakes, and oil changes. The engine still has never been opened - has never needed to be - it is still all Original. I too have always garaged the car as pictured and I've trusted the work on it to one high-end local mechanic. He too owns Vettes, Classic Chevys, etc. My favorite comment of his is that this car runs like a "raped ape." I have all documentation of work done under my watch. 1973 was the last model year in which the Corvette had chrome bumpers. It is the only year that had chrome on the back and plastic on the front, making it a completely unique and easily identifyable model. The car turns heads everywhere it goes. And I'd say 80% of the miles I've driven the car over the past 12 years have been on weekend afternoons along the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley or on a Sunday drive to Bodega Bay. I've also driven the car in parades, taken it to local car shows, and have loaned it out for wedding photos. Please email with questions
