Vehicle Detail
LOW RESERVE! For sale is my 1969 Dodge Charger which I purchased in 1997 as a running project car. It has a 440 V8, Holley 750 Double Pumper, Edelbrock Torquer 440 intake, lumpy cam, headers, dual 3" Flowmaster exhaust, 727 automatic with Hurst Ratchet Shift, 8 3/4" rear end with 3.91 Sure Grip, S.E. package with leather bucket seats, console, and tach. 49,090 miles. Rather than drive it, I decided to park it and amass all the parts I needed to complete the transformation into a replica of the "General Lee" from the TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard." Included with the car is a new front fender, new front bumper, trunk floor, and other miscellaneous body parts from reputable body parts companies. The original chrome trim, center console, dashboard, interior panels, and glass are all included, but not currently installed. ALL of the additional "General Lee" accessories that I have bought will also be included for the winning bidder. This includes: CORRECT 10-spoke American Racing Vector wheels: two 15x8.5 new-in-box for the front from the early 2000's, two 15x10 new-in-box N.O.S. from 1984, and three 15x8 junkyard takeoffs that are rough and need restoration.CORRECT decal kit purchased from John Schneider ("Bo Duke") himself, new-in-box.Faux roll bar kit, unassembled.Faux push bar (grill guard) kit, unassembled.Dixie horn.Glovebox lid SIGNED by the T.V. show's stunt crew. The previous owner got into a fender bender that left it without a front bumper and with a bad bondo job on the front fender. Before taking the car in for the body work, I removed the fuel tank and cut out the rusted trunk floor so I could then install the new trunk floor kit. I also pulled out all the glass and most of the interior to get it ready for the body shop. I've since gotten involved with several other automotive projects, and the Charger has sat unfinished. If it still had the fuel tank installed, you could literally drive it home. But as it is, it will need to be towed. It can drive with the fuel pump sucking from a Jerry can, but I think the Highway Patrol would frown upon that. Mechanically, the car is all new and the body is VERY solid - it's a California car, not a midwest rustbucket. The fenders, quarter panels, and undercarriage are all rust-free. The only rust was in the two typical spots, the trunk floor and a very small amount in the pinch-weld seam in the rear window corners. The front seats aren't torn, but the leather is old and tired; the vinyl rear seat is fine. It will need a new carpet kit and headliner. The friend I bought it from ran out of money after finishing all the drivetrain rebuild. I bought it from him with the plan to do the cosmetic work and have my childhood dream car, but college, marriage, and 5 other cars that have been demanding all of my attention away from the Charger means it's been ignored for far too long. I'm sure there's someone out there who will do a better job of getting the car back on the road than I have. I've done the hard (and expensive) work of getting a solid car and all the reproduction body parts needed, along with the "General Lee" accessories. The car simply needs someone with the desire to finish putting it all together. It's not a numbers-matching car; it was originally a 318 car. Clean title, registered as non-op and all registration dues are current. Pink slip in hand. California license plate GNRL LE. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.
