Hello and thank you for looking! For sale is my 1966 replica AC Shelby Cobra. I have finally talked mama into letting me get a viper, but she says the Cobra has got to go! I've had the car for a little more than a year now. i finished the build after getting it in 60% complete condition. The back story on the car is as follows: The car build was originally started in West Virgina by a pair of guys. It was a "Street Beast" kit. They got the roller done and moving, but never finished the body, interior and other minor items... The car was sold after they ran out of money to a fella in Florida. He added a sound system, did some mechanical work, and then it was then bought by a dealer in SC, and I got it from him. I completed the bodywork and painted the car (paint now less than a year old, just got its first coat of wax!) It was proffesionally sprayed in a burgandy red (color from the 2010 Chevy camaro) with silver racing stripes (again from the camaro) The color is stunning and the pics dont come close to doing it justice. I have brought the car through to 99% completion. I say 99% because no car like this is ever really done, but for me she is there. It needs nothing. I just replaced the rear springs and shocks with new (the original builder used a used rear end, shocks/springs) and did all 4 brakes. I have also replaced the following parts with NEW: Altenatorbeltradiatortranny coolerheadlightsfuel pumpair filterbatteryhorncd playerfront speakers (rear were perfect, front had one blown)stearing wheel ididit column rear shocks rear springsfront rotorsfront padsrear pads Some of the parts I replaced because the ones used in the build were not up to my standards, others just to have new. The motor is a STRONG 302. (Small Block Ford) The block has been punched .30 and was built with Kieth Black pistons and rods, A new steel crank, and a edelbrock cam. The cam is somewhat radical, but the car still idles nicely, its just enough to let you know its defiantly there... An Edelbrock performer intake and holly 650 carb send the mix to iron heads that were worked by a machine shop in WV. The usual dress up stuff is on the motor, braided lines, Cobra Cleaner and valve covers, everything is clean and nothing is needed. The motor runs very strong. I've changed plugs once and oil twice in the 5000 miles I've put on it. To be honest, I am not a builder or a tuner. The 2 guys I trust most tell me there is LOTS of power left in the motor, but it needs to be tuned out of it. If you know carbs.. I bet you could get much more. The motor fires right away, and due to the fact that the car is so light, runs away from anything I've been next to at a light. Its a TON of fun to drive... it handles REALLY well. Find a country road and have fun... the sound of those open pipes is unreal, steering tight and accurate, and just a blast to drive. Go anyplace in town, and its a pain in the butt, you cant go anyplace without someone stopping you to ask "is it real?" or "is it the car I saw on pawn stars?"... "What is it?", and my favorite..."Is that the car from ferris buelers day off?" I have had several people almost wreck trying to take pictures while driving next to me, and when your going by, NO-ONE is paying attention to what they are doing. They are all staring at you. Once a trip someone will drive by beeping at you to give you a thumbs up, and all the ricers have enough respect to not rev their lawnmower motors when near you. EVERYONE ends their questioning with the same thing.. "its beautiful!!" I've taken 3 longer trips with it.. we put it on a trailer, drove to Miami, took it off, and drove from Homestead to Key West and back. 120 Miles of amazing. I have some great video of the drive if your interested... I drove Myrtle Beach to Charlotte and Lake Norman. The car performs perfectly on a long trip, no issues whatsoever, HOWEVER... my rear end will never be the same. The car is great around town, but if your 6'2 and 250 lbs like me, the cockpit is very small and restrictive, no leg room, no way to shift around and adjust. I can go about an hour in it before I want to get out and walk around a bit. I would defiantly not recommend the car to anyone over 6'3 without modifications to the pedals. If you're 6'2 or under you're fine, just dont plan to drive cross country without making a few stops. All new Auto Meter Phantom white face guages, A push button starter, a loud annoying AOOOOGAaa horn, CD player, and a few minor custom pieces in the interior. Nice black carpet, faux leather seats, And nothing needed. I got my viper last week, and I am not "desperate" to sell the car. I would like to make the wife happy though, and that takes opening up space in the garage. I set my reserve at $20k, the buy it now at $23K and would be ecstatic to see $25k (mommy has plans for about 1/2 the money... ) Please understand this car is driven daily. It is not a show car, although it is in beautiful condition. The car is not an attempt at being an original shelby or an exact reproduction. (although everyone thinks it is...) Its not a resto mod, and certainly not a beater or rat rod... its an original, in AWESOME condition, and lots of fun. Buy this car and other than routine maintenance you wont need to do anything and still impress the hell out of everyone at your local auto show. Please do not bid unless you have the means to purchase the car. I am located in Myrtle Beach SC. You could fly in and drive home. (check spirit airlines, SUPER cheep flights to myrtle from all over) I will assist with shipping, or drive the car to you for the cost of the trip and my return flight home, + dinner and a beer when I get there... If your serious about the car, I suggest you contact me and discuss it before bidding. 843 685 2079 is my number. Good luck!On Oct-05-11 at 12:42:32 PDT, seller added the following information: As of Oct 5 at 3:40 I have lowered my reserve to $18k Good luck!
