Vehicle Detail
Up For sale is the best of the spitfire years! A 1974 Triumph Spitfire. It has the benefits of being pre-smog, a big deal especially here in California! It also has the double chrome bumpers rather than the ugly rubber ones that came after it. The benefits of this Spit over the older ones is that it has the larger 1500 CC engine, the better rear end, and the overdrive transmission that has 6 available forward gears! This car gets almost 40 MPG! I bought this car after a long search looking for a 1500cc 1974 that was as rust free as I could find, this one is almost perfect, The engine has been well maintained, and runs strong, it has a Webber DGV Carburetor, and a Crane Fireball ignition system. It also has the upgraded electric cooling fan to prevent the classic spitfire overheat! I then rebuilt the transmission using new parts from Spitbits including replacing the shift forks and the synchronizers. While I was in there I replaced the rear main seal and clutch. Not wanting to be chased by Lucas prince of darkness, I installed a completely new fully labeled wiring harness from headlights to taillights with a modern fuse block. It has modern Auto meter gauges, and is prewired for Stereo, Auxiliary power etc… The car now has 20 different fused circuits instead of the original three, so if something pops the fuse, it doesn’t shut down the whole car (If you have owned an older car, you know what I mean!). Cosmetically, the car came with the original Lucas optional upgrade Alloy wheels (Very Rare). I put on a brand new ragtop, and was about to go through replacing the interior when my financial situation changed. I am now forced to sell my project when it is so close to being done. It still needs the interior, some weather-stripping, The electrical needs to be finished, It runs and drives, but I have not reconnected things like the wipers, or the highbeam indicator etc..and a new Oil pressure sending unit (Gauge works, and pressure is stable, but sender died on me) and new wiper blades! There are also two dents in the car, one on the nose and one over the left rear wheel well. Other than that the car is almost perfect. I will include a complete set of brand new Chamfered wheel studs to upgrade the studs for racing (This was my plan, just never got there!) Please feel free to ask any questions, I have the car for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Email me if you would like to come and see the car.
