This is a low mileage, matching numbers, 2 person e-type fixed head coupe (not a 2+2). It had a paint re-spray years ago in its original primrose (pale) yellow color but otherwise remains original. 1968 was a transition year for the Jaguar e-type as it still retains the attractive exterior look of the earlier cars with the tail lights mounted above the rear bumper, but incorporates the cooling system improvements introduced of the later series 2 cars. These cars are commonly referred to as series 1.5 Body: Body is very straight and rust free. Still has its original floors in great condition. The bonnet is also in excellent condition and fits well. On an e-type the body is the most important thing to check. Paint: The paint is good but not perfect and shows its age. Good enough for a driver but not for a show car. Chrome: Chrome is nice and straight; good for a driver. Nice chrome on the wire wheels. Engine: This is the original 4.2 liter inline 6 engine which runs very well without smoke or leaks. The engine was recently detailed when it was removed to do a clutch job. Cylinder compression is between 145psi to 150psi across all cylinders, which is very good. Oil pressure is also very good at around 40 psi. Interior: The interior is mostly original with a nice patina. Headliner is also good. Gauges are in working order. I would leave the interior as is; nice to see an e-type with its original interior. . Gearbox and clutch: Has the fully synchronized gearbox which shifts very well. Clutch was just replaced Suspension: Ball joints were checked and new rubber gaiters installed. Suspension is nice and clean. Exhaust: Exhaust is after market and a little loader than the original. I personally like the more aggressive sound. Undercarriage: The undercarriage is straight and rust free with the amount of dirt one would expect of a car of this age with 45K miles. Overall I would categorize this car as a honest unmolested driver. Great car if you want just want a Jaguar that is not hiding a lot of nasty surprises. You can drive it as is for years and then make it better if that is what you want to do. You should see a collage with many additional photos above this description.
