Up for sale is my 1998 VW Beetle. I am selling it because it is having transmission problems. It will not shift into any gears, regardless of shifter position. The transmission it needs is "CZM". Overall the car is in fair shape. Mechanicaly: The battery was replaced during the winter of 2009-2010. The brakes were done in the summer of 2010, front and rear pads and all four rotors. The ignition coil was also replaced during the summer of 2010. The tires have about 25% left. The A/C gave out early this summer. The engine runs well and very strong. The "check engine" light is on for an O2 sensor. There is a crack in the upper half of the air box. I did this while it was out of the car so I could get to the linkage on the transmission. The car has not driven with this crack it is new. Interior: The seats work as they should. There is a stain on the passenger seat bottom. The center of the dash board, where the radio goes, has a crack. I do not have the factory radio. The passenger side door window mechanism is shot. The cable snapped and the door module was removed and never completely put back in. The glove box is velcro'd shut, the lock appears to be jammed open. The car has dual front airbags as expected and has either side or rear airbags as well. I posted a picture of the side of the front passenger seat denoting this. Exterior: There are a few small dings and scratches on the car, as you could expect from a vehicle of this age. All glass is in intact. There is a very large scuff on the right rear fascia. The right front fascia has some paint chips from a bad paint job. Front fascia and hood were replaced last October after an accident. All repairs from this were done by my insurance agency at a body shop. The wheels are in ok shape. There are some scratches but nothing major. I have all center caps but one is missing VW emblem.
