Vehicle Detail

For your consideration, one cosmetically-challenged 2005 Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom with 26,000 miles. I am the third owner of this motorcycle and it has been down twice (ok, three times but once was in mud after I came to a stop and the only thing dented was my pride). The first time it went down under me I wiped out on a highway entrance ramp on a big diesel spill. I was in 1st gear and went down on the left side. The lower left fairing was scratched as was the bottom part of the left fork slider (see pictures) and the left hand bar-end weight. The second time I went down I was at the top of Cameron Pass on Colorado 14 on a very hot day and the tar snakes made the bike go wobbly and skittled the bike towards the outside of the turn. I didn't think I was going to make it so I straightened up and went into the grass at about 50mph. I held it up until the very end and then went down on the right side. The "dirt" on the side of the road was more like very coarse sand and it scratched the right side fairing and tank (see pics, it appears as though someone took 60 grit sandpaper to it). The rear brake pedal was also bent and the handlebars appear bent but they don't feel bent (I don't know how else to describe that). The handguards are also trashed. Please see the pictures for all the damage. I do not think the frame is bent but I do not know for sure because I didn't get it lasered to find out. After the Cameron Pass crash I rode the bike home (the long way through Rocky Mountain National Park) and I still ride the bike as is and haven't had any problems. The front turn signals are scratched but still functional. The front fender is scratched. The tank, however, has no dents at all. The tires, chain, sprockets and battery have less than three thousand miles on them. The seat has no tears. The engine and all the lights, electronics and everything else work perfectly fine. The levers and pedals are in perfect working order, except for the rear brake pedal, it is bent but still works. The bike has heated grips and a Power Commander III feul injection thingy (I bought it that way, never tuned it or adjusted it in any way as I think the bike runs fine and is VERY powerful). The centerstand is the Suzuki factory stand. Other than the heated grips and the PCIII there are no other accessories on this bike. The bike is being offered as is with no apologies and no BS. I bought it locally through craigslist in 2009 and only put about 3000 miles, new tires (in 2010), new battery (2010) and new chain and sprogs on it (2009). As far as I know from the previous owner it had all its regular service done at a local Suzuki dealership. I never put enough miles on it to get it to its next service interval. I have a CD with all the receipts and service the previous owner had done on it. I also have the CD and adaptor thingy to adjust the PCIII. The sprockets are stock Suzuki, the chain is RK Gold with master link. The tires are Dunlop D207 in the front and Metzeler Tourance on the rear (long story why it's that way). The battery is your basic AGM maintenance-free battery purchased from Batteries Plus. As far as I know it still has the stock brake pads and discs. I prefer PayPal. Payments other than Paypal must be arranged before purchase. Buyer must arrange shipping and/or pick-up. The bike and its clear title are in my possession. I do not have the means to deliver the bike anywhere. I will try to be as accomodating as possible to facilitate delivery (yes, I can pick you up at the airport and you can stay at my place if you want to ride it home). Please feel free to ask any question you wish as I will endeavor to answer all questions as quickly as I can to the best of my ability. Thank you for your consideration.
