Vehicle Detail

Up for auction, 1968 Numbers Matching, Dodge R/T Charger Please read the following as it is the history of the car as I know it. I purchased this car in 1990, the car was damaged in the rear from a minor collision. I do have a clear title as well for this car. The car was in running drivable condition at the time, but needed repair work from the damage. The engine was rebuilt professionally about 1 year before I purchased it, and the transmission about 6 months before. All suspension, brakes, tie rods and such had been replaced with new as the owner at the time was getting the car ready for body work and paint and wanted all mechanical issues repaired first. The rear light pan, valence, gas tank, and right rear frame rail were damaged. I had the frame rail straightened by 3 way automotive shortly after I purchased the car, then brought the car to a couple small body shops to have the body panels replaced. Unfortunately, the body shops I used started the work and never finished which is where I stopped working on the car about 18 years ago. I would every year start the car and keep everything somewhat fresh, clean the inside, wash the outside, whatever to keep the car in its present condition for future restoration. Over the last eight years or so I have not started the engine and have basically let the car sit and done nothing with it. Two years ago I decided to start working on the car again and brought the car to another small shop to have the metal work done. Again, the car sat at this shop, no work was completed, and more damage to the car was caused, this time to the right front fender. Finally I have had enough and decided to sell the car to someone who will restore it as it should be, and enjoy it as I never will. Here is a list of everything I know about the car from the time I purchased it to now. Body; The car was originally banana yellow with the black R/T stripe around the rear, it is now black, paint is in poor condition. The car has power steering, power brakes, air conditioning,(no components under the hood), tinted glass, over head shoulder belts,(R/T option), original fender plate under hood is intact, and have original build sheet, but it has been torn into pieces by a varmint years ago. The body is as it appears in the pictures, it needs the two rear quarter panels installed, trunk extension pieces, rear corners, valance, light pan, some of the exterior rocker panels installed/replaced, I have some of these items which will be included in the auction. Note, the car does not have the usual rust in the window areas or underneath, it is very very sound in all of these areas as the pictures show, floors and frame are in very good shape. All of the trim and such is in very good condition, very little pitting and blemishes. The front grill and headlight assembly is in very good working condition as well, which is a key item on these cars. Interior; The interior is in amazingly good condition, again aver the years some issues have occurred and caused a bit of damage to the interior as well. The driver side inner door panel needs replaced or repaired, the top of the rear seat on the passenger side needs repaired/replaced, the driver side seat area stitching has come apart on one seam, the headliner although not bad has a few puncture holes in it. Engine; 440 magnum built professionally, has less then 1500 miles on it, but has not been started for 8 years or so. The oil as in the picture is like new, and no I have not changed it since I have owned the car. The engine puts out a little over 500 hp, and runs awesome, or did when last started. It has the better heads, not sure on which piston, purple shaft cam, slightly larger than stock, has nice lope to it, stock 4 barrel manifold, junk carb at the moment. Deep sump oil pan, chrome, rusty, high volume oil pump, puts out 80psi at idle. Hooker competition headers, rusty maybe salvageable, electric fuel pump, although I have a new one for the car it needs a regulator and is over 20 years old so no idea if it is still good. Engine and compartment has miscellaneous chrome pieces all of which have rust on them from sitting over the years. I will NOT start the engine for any reason at this time, it should in my opinion be removed from the car, disassembled and gone over so no damage will result from starting it. I would think it would start at this point, but I would not take a chance as it is a valuable piece to this car and caution should be taken in this case. Transmission; 727 original automatic trans, full manual reverse valve body, B&M components, 1500rpm hemi stall converter, again rebuilt professionally. Rear end; 8 ¾ posi rear end, no issues there. Extra’s Mint condition hood, along with the hood on the car which has the two inner corners bent for whatever reason before I purchased the car. Both new AMD full rear quarter panels, purchased about 6 months ago never touched, these are the best replacement panels available to date. Rear valance, purchased 18 years ago, has surface rust on it but never used, may be salvageable. Both right and left rocker panels, again purchased many years ago, no rust, never used. New used rear bumper, needs re-chromed or can be used for a core. The car comes with the aluminum slotted rims on the car, which are in pretty nice shape, tires are crap but good for working on the car, although one now has a slash in it from again the last shop I took the car to. The car also comes with 4 new centerline auto drag brushed finish rims. Two rear 15” x 10” with new Eagle ST tires, and two front 15” x 8.5” rims with used tires in fair condition. Have all center caps for the centerline rims, and lug nuts as well as locking nuts. I also have all of the trim pieces for the rear of the car including the charger R/T badge and rear tail lights. The only missing pieces I know of would be the two blinker lights in the hood. I’m sure I may be forgetting some points or extra’s, so feel free to ask anything you wish, I can send extra pictures for anyone interested, you can look at the car by appointment if you wish. The car will need trailored wherever it needs to go, it does roll but cannot be moved with a 2 wheel dolly as the passenger side rear quarter has been removed from the car and is part of the uni-body support for the vehicle. Disclaimer; Everything I know about this car has been disclosed here in the description, I am not responsible for any information about this car I was unaware of. It is up to the buyer to verify any and all information about this car. This car is sold as is, no warranty is implied or expressed. As this car is offered for sale in other places as well, I reserve the right up to auction end to end this auction for any reason I choose, not likely, but still need to include in this statement. Happy bidding!
