Vehicle Detail
1978 Triumph Spitfire - Offered with no Reserve. Exterior - Maroon in color - The body is in very nice condition with little visible rust. The car was repainted prior to me getting it and it is an ok paint job, a 20 footer. There are some spots where the previous color chipped through. Overall it looks nice. This is a driver car, not a show car. There is a patch of rust through on the drivers side door inside back. There is also a small rust through in the trunk. The frame looks very solid with only surface rust. Bumpers are chrome, no dents or dings, with the rubber intact and in nice shape. The lower front spoiler is original and in nice shape. Luggage rack in on and looks good. Gas Cap looks original. All Lights work. Tires all have good tread. The Right Front was chan, ged recently and is non matching. Tops - the convertible top is ok. There are no rips or tears. There is a place where the seam has separated by the drivers side door, just above the window. It also Comes with the parade boot which is in fantastic shape. All snaps are on and in the correct place. Last it has the hard to find Tonneau cover. This fits perfect. the latches on the dash are in tact as are the snaps. This is a must have for all Sptifires. Used this top the most when there was a question of rain. Drivers side zips open to drive then covers up when you get out. Interior - The Seats are in Excellent condition. Can't tell if they are original, they look too good. Carpets are nice. Floors (under carpet) have no rust through. Dash is nice with some small cracking. AM/FM/CD works and is aftermarket. The drivers side window handle is missing the ball on the end, works fine. The high beam/turn signal switch is loose and picky. I hold it in place with a piece of cardboard otheerwise the high beams want to come on. Overall the interior is one of the best I've seen for a Driver Triumph of this vintage. Speedometer stopped working about 7000 miles after I got the car. I have not fixed it. The car will be sold with an odometer discrepency. Mechanical - Engine Runs great, starts right up. Recent Clutch slave cylinder. Recent Altenator. 4 spd transmission shifts smooth. Clutch is nice and high. Brakes work fine. Emergency brake is not working. This was my weekend car and it is fun to drive. Scoots right along and I have had minimal problems with it. Changes in my life have made me decide to sell it. As you can see by my description I am trying to be upfront about all that is good and bad about the car. It is here in my driveway. If you have questions, please ask BEFORE bidding. I can also send you pictures and close ups of anything that you may have questions about. I will not ship the car, but I can get it to a local shipper if you arrange transport (within 30 miles). 10% deposit due within 24 hours of auction end via Paypal .
