Vehicle Detail

I offer this 1953 Studebaker Coupe for auction. This is a California car. It is one of the most solid old unrestored 53 coupes I’ve ever seen. It came originally from the Tracy, CA area of the central valley. This car has never been on the road (and hence never run in salt) since being in Michigan. Yes, it’s an original 1953 Studebaker model 14G-C3 coupe with all of its original steel body panels and trim. This car has never had any of the rust issues one commonly sees on a Studebaker here in the rust-belt. There are no obvious holes in the floor or trunk pan. I removed the old front floor-mat and scraped the loose old sound-deadening and brushed on some POR15 to preserve the nice floors. The frame is excellent. The rocker panels have no rot, and are as solid as the day they were made. Of course, the chrome all needs to be redone/restored. Originally it was Chippewa green, and at some point in the 60's it was repainted ivory mist. Some of the glass has cracks, but none of it is broken out. The gauges in the dash are still in good shape. The four fenders and most the front clip metal were taken off the car, and my bodyman worked on them. I know for a fact the front fenders got media blasted inside and out. All these panels are in epoxy sealer/primer. About this time my autobody guy disappeared, and my dreams of him finishing the body of the car to completion disappeared with him. I just count my blessings I got my stuff back. Before one would lay down final paint, there still are some really small little dings here and there that were never worked out in those panels, in addition to prepping the other parts of the car he never got to. This would be an easy restore, or drop in a more modern drivetrain to suit your taste. Originally, it was a Champion six-cylinder, manual overdrive car. There is no engine or transmission. Rolls and steers easily. Bill of Sale only: title has been long lost, last time it was registered was back in 1969. No extra parts, all I have for it are on the car in the pictures. This is a perfect car to start a project with, being a solid California car and one of Studebaker’s most beautiful body styles. I’ve owned this car for awhile, but its time for me to move on. It’s a great project. My reserve is very reasonable, considering it’s a solid California car already in the Midwest. Look up my zipcode of 49677 if you want to see how far the car is from you. As with any 58 year old project car, it is sold as-is, no warranties, promises, or conditions expressed or implied. Payment must be by cashier’s check or cash. Sorry, no IOU’s, livestock, or your ex-wife on trade. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction close. If paying by money order or cashier’s check, payment must clear my bank to my satisfaction before the car will be released. Can store the car for up to 35 days after receiving cleared payment. If you are hiring a trucking firm to haul this car for you, it must be picked up here at my non-commercial residence. Due to health, I am not capable of delivering it to a truck terminal/dock. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks!
