Up for auction is a 1999 Subaru Forester S model with 171,000 highway miles on it. A Beautiful car with a blown head gasket. With no reserve, the starting price is less than the cost of the brand new tires, windshield and timing belt that were just put on it!!!!! Patch the worn running rails, clean the wheel rims , fix a small dent and do the engine; this car will turn heads again. Just like the one in the Subaru nastalgia commercial. I bought this car 3 years ago with 65,000 miles on it. I have taken very good care of it with regular oil changes and careful driving. Driving extensively on the Island, I love this car and am sad to see it go. After all the care I've given it, the head gasket blew. The mechanic said the plugs fouled and the antifreeze was blowing back into the overflow. The car does not start. There was also some antifreeze on top of the radiator. I'm not sure what that is about. It might have been from the blow back. The radiator is only two years old. It might have to be resealed. At worse, a new one costs about $135 and is easy to install. Everything else is is very good condition. Owned by a non-smoker. This is the perfect car for someone who knows Subaru engines or has the money to have the engine professionally redone. That's all you'd need though. The car is very clean. Look at the pictures. Great paint, great body and great interior. A testament to how well the car has been taken care of. Only some minor nicks and blemishes and a small dent on top of the drivers side fender. The leather interior is beautiful and includes a cargo cover and cargo protective rubber floor mat. The car is very tight and quiet, good exhaust, cold a/c, nice stereo, good front end, brakes and good axels. This S model has many features and includes cruise control, tilt steering wheel, power doors and locks, alarm system, also a display which tells the outside air temp, altitude and cars direction. This car was just inspected before the head gasket blew. The winning bidder will have to either pick it up or arrange for shipping. A $500 deposit must be made through paypal within 48 hours of winning the auction. Balance can be made in person either with cash as a final payment or cashiers check.
