Vehicle Detail

1971 was the last year the 6 cylinder e-type was built and the only year that both the 6 cylinder and 12 cylinder cars were sold. It was also the last year the two person coupe was available as the V12 coupes only came as a 2+2. According to the title the 38K miles is correct, but I have no way to verify this. This 2 person coupe represents the last of the breed. It came from the factory fitted with factory air conditioner and power steering. I have been collecting e-types for many years and this is the first 6 cylinder e-type I have owned with the power steering. On the V12 cars I dislike the power steering as it makes the steering too light. I feared this power steering was going to be the same but I was totally wrong. It produces just the right amount of assist without loosing road feel. What I really like about the car is the color combination of dark blue with red interior. The paint has surface defects possibly from acid rain. It is possible that they could be wet sanded and buffed but they appear to be rather deep and I would count on eventually painting the car to really make it look good. If you were to repaint this car I am sure it would look fantastic. Interior is very nice and proper. The gauges are in good working order and there dash top has no cracks. I put the car on a lift and found it has a stainless steel exhaust. The floors appear to be the original and are in very good condition. The AC is working but not blowing cold. One of the AC hoses has some cracks and should be replaced and the system charged. The AC has been converted to the new refrigerant, 134a. The front bumpers are straight but have have some peeling on the chrome. Wire wheels are nice. The undercarriage is straight and rust free. Spare tire is the original Dunlop and has very little use. Mechanically this car is very strong. I have driven many e-types and this engine pulls stronger than most series 2 cars, and some series 1 cars, I've owned. Oil pressure is 40+ psi, which is very good. The engine leaks no oil, which in itself is amazing for a Jaguar :-) Overall I would categorize this car as a driver. Great car if you want just want a good looking and fun e-type to drive. You can drive it as is for years and then make it better if that is what you want to do.
